Sometimes it gets difficult to stay focused on anything spiritual because it goes against our human nature. Take you time. Get different versions of the bible and pick a specific subject to read about. Try not just opening it and going for it it is not like a novel it's gives way more than just entertainment. Take it one step at a time and it will come easier and always remember to pray before you read it helps!

Since Catholics have been allowed to read the Bible very few do. For ages they were prohibited from doing so. If you read it at all you are in a minority. If you want to continue, you should get a modern translation like the Catholic NAB and for a study help I would get the NIV (trans-denominational) and the NLT (paraphrase). You can read your Catholic Bible and if you get stuck somewhere you can compare with the NIV and the NLT. The NIV is an easy to read translation and the NLT really breaks it down to very simple phrases. Good luck, keep it up. God bless you.

I'm a catholic too, and I can't remember the last time I read the bible. I believe in doing good things as opposed to sitting in a dark corner reading about Jesus doing his miracles.

If you consistently read your bible, how would you be a good catholic/christian? You will have to lay down the bible and do everyday activities like go to work, eat, drink, meet friends, and yes, do good things.

There are many people who read the bible everyday and yet are narrow-minded bigots. I'd suggest you look at the actions of ther person as opposed to his/her reading matter.

Good luck with your life.

i do not study about different Christians yet I study my Bible daily. easily I easily have a devotional on Yahoo communities so i'm coaching the Bible so I easily ought to carry close what i'm coaching so i want to study what i'm writing about. For my personal devotional time i'm reading by potential of the former testomony acceptable this second and attempt to study a minimum of one financial ruin an afternoon if no extra. very last three hundred and sixty 5 days I study by potential of the hot testomony. My important Bible is the King James version and my study Bibles are The Amplified Bible and the Jewish Bible. those 3 Bibles at the same time help to understand what God has written and what He needs us to carry close. many of the Bible as a lot as Acts became written specially for the Jewish human beings. Then even as the Church became all started Gentiles were also given the gospel and so acceptable this second we are contained in the Church age. So my answer on your question is certain, I as a born back believer in Jesus Christ who's my Savior, Lord and King, I study my Bible and answer question with Biblical solutions. bb

Not Catholic but I try to read my bible every day, one passage from the OT and one from the NT. The best advice I can give you, is don't beat yourself up if you miss a few days, because that leads to a legalistic attitude, and it's your heart God looks at not how often you read the Bible. Pray in the morning that He would give you a heart to read, then see what happens.

You need the Holy Spirit to help you. Pray and ask the Lord for guidance in your life. Read one of the Gosples and just read one small part a day. Why not get some daily bible reading notes to help you.

It's not a crime to do this. Reading the Bible should be at your own pace and time. Are you racing with someone to see who will finish first? You shouldnt feel guilty about how you read the Bible. Read at your own pace and when you're ready.

maybe it's not really what you want to do... or it is not your priority..
but i believe it is common for christians not to read the bible... i'm not saying it is not wrong not to read the bible but our mission is more than just reading the bible. our mission is living the bible. why read the bible when you already know that it is all about the story of love and of goodness... what you must do is to do something good and you do more than just reading the bible. you are letting others read the bible on your good deeds.
