the point of this question was basically, you hear people saying things like 'how could god let this happen and some people say 'well he doesn't exxist' and others say he moves in mysterious ways, but the most obvious answer is hes just a big jerk.

If he is real, then he is a jerk. In the bible, god has killed millions!!! Yet Satan never killed anyone. In fact, wasn't Satan the one who educated Eve and Adam? Isn't educating others a revered profession? Teachers never get the credit that they deserve!

You question doesn't make sense. How can God be a jerk if he doesn't exist?

Whose the real Jerk? There is more prove that he is real than there isn't.
Because you deny the existence of God you are a fool. God say's so, the Bible says so and so do I.

Learn to ask questions right, and learn that God is real before you try and attack.

My theory is that God doesn't intervene in our everyday lives, although he could. People thank God for things that just happen. I mean, if I get a job, God didn't make them choose me. Not saying I did EVERYTHING right to get here, but you can't choose to say God intervenes and God doesn't when it is convenient for your life. Either God does intervene and allows terrible things to happen or he doesn't and is not responsible for when something good happens in your life. I love the thought of a God. I do believe he exists, I just believe he observes our lives not interfere at all.

When God sent us to earth to receive our mortal bodies, He placed in a situation where we could not remember our premortal existence, requiring us to live by faith, learning the good from the evil by our experiences and our teachings. One of God's greatest gifts to His children is our agency to choose for ourselves to follow Him or His adversary. If God were to insulate us from any bad thing happening, we would not learn anything. Think of your own parents letting you make mistakes and suffer a little bit in order to learn that what they told you was correct. By the same token, you will let your children make mistakes so that they can learn thereby. Does it make us happy to see our kids make mistakes? Of course not. But we have to let it happen because we cannot go through life holding their hand in everything they do. They wouldn't like it and wouldn't learn anything from our overindulgence. Likewise, God allows us to make mistakes so that we can learn the good from the evil. Sometimes good people get hurt by the mistakes that bad people make. Again, that is part of the mortal experience and part of God's plan for us. Don't worry about the suffering that we sometimes pass through. If we have the right attitude, and endure our hardships well, then God will bless us for our faithfulness and steadfastness. It is all part of the big picture. Try to see the eternal nature of things. It truly helps.

Phillip - do you ever thank God for the fact that you are alive, the fact that you have luxuries....you must do as you have a computer so you must be able to afford other things...Do you ever thank God when something nice happens to you....if not then you dont have the right to question when God allows bad things to happen.

Because religion is so often based on what people want to believe is true, and nobody wants to believe that God's just a big jerk.

Do you really think that your parents are responsible for everything that happens to you AFTER you become an adult?

Same situation, but on a racial scale. He gave us Eden, or whatever original situation we had. We didn't listen, we chose this instead as a race.

For some reason people always seem to think of God as their personal baby sitter. Do you or any of us really think of God as your personal baby sitter?

Let's remember there is an enemy out there who is blinding people to the truth and just keep praying that God will open their eyes.

There is no God. Never was and never will be.

"God" is an invention of organised religions, who use him to control people.
