Freeze it or refrigerate it. I prefer freezing since it keeps it fresher much longer and only takes a few seconds to thaw in the microwave.

it is normal for bread to get moldy after about three days if it was baked without preservatives. it lasts for about a week with preservatives, like some of the commercial breads in the stores. you didn't say how long it takes for your bread to get moldy, though, or where you are from, or whether the temperature in your area is hot and dry or humid. all these factors afftect the shelf life of your bread.

the best that you can do is to portion your loaf of bread (or if you bought loose ones, simply divide them into as many as you can eat in one meal.) then keep the rest in the freezer AIRTIGHT. packing the bread airtight keeps the moisture in, and your bread would still be as good as new when you heat it up.

mold can still grow in the refrigerator. you can put your bread in the refrigerator only if you plan to consume it within three days. otherwise, your best option is still the freezer.

1. Eat it before it molds. Use the bread creatively for more than sandwiches.

2. Save your empty bread bags and divide the next loaf. 1/3 to freezer, 1/3 to fridge, 1/3 on the counter.

3. Toast whatever you don't think you will get to before it molds and put it in a bag. Cut it up for croutons, put cheese or peanut butter atop it, make bread crumbs. The French have thousands of fabulous recipes for stale or toasted bread.

Keep the bread away from any moisture, and make sure it is not too humid where you store it. Do not place it on top of your fridge, because it gets too hot there.Instead place it inside a bread box, or in the fridge.

Keep it cool. I keep bread in the fridge during the summer as well as the winter. Additionally, I open it frequently to exchange air. Fresh non-moist air helps keep the mold problem down.

When it's warm and humid, store your bread in the fridge or freezer, taking out just what you need when you need it.

Fridge... make sure the bag has as little air as possible. Buy less so that you eat all of it before it has a chance to mold. Warm, moist air causes mold.
