I have Bipolar. It is a tough nut to crack. There are times that you are seriously depressed, some times to the point of being suicidal. Then you are flying high. In the high times you are doing things that are risky, like driving to fast. You are also driven in the area of sexuality. Combine that with the risk taking thing and you have problems. Allot of people use drugs and alcohol to control their symptoms but this only compounds the problems. There is also a thing called Bipolar II which is a milder for of bipolar. Well only in the manic part. The depression can often be worse.

There are several different types. Typically a person goes through extreme "highs" and extreme "lows". When a person gets manic they feel great and think they can do anything and sometimes they get very angry at others and lose sleep. When they have lows they can get lethargic and depressed. Various drugs are used to treat symptoms such as lithium, depakote-er, anti-psychotics, and even drugs like prozac or effexor in combination with depakote or lithium. Hope this helps.

The symtoms of Manic depression are violent shifts in mood from extremely happy and having fun(manic) to instantly becoming extremely quiet and sad(depression). It is charicterized by the swiftness of the change and the fact there seems to be no middle emotion, just manic and depression.

Well I know this guy who is a bipolar and from what I understand it means u get cycles of mood from hyper to hyper maniac to depression, the depression being trigger less meaning NO reason to be depressed but still depressed. It's a cycle the person goes through some times rapid and some times it's not so often, Medication helps, but there is no actual cure.

You feel soo well, "I haven't felt better before on my entire life"!
sometimes, and some others, you feel soo bad and can't see the answer to your problems, it feels soo horrible, my aunt has it and she told me she felt that way before treatment. Right now she just feels ok with her life and simply goes on living.
