Sorry there are not signs that we use that much any more. The one about earrings is outdated, thumb rings is said to be another. But the way most of the gay people tell who is gay or not is by their gaydar. We look at a person's mannerisms and body language, best way to describe it. But it is getting harder these days with more gay men looking straight and more straight men looking gay. So talk to the person it usually will come out in the way they speak. Otherwise there is no real fool proof method of telling us apart.

It used to be said that if someone was gay, they would wear an earring in the right ear. Outdated now though. With so many people getting piercings, many straight men now have BOTH ears pierced, and many gay men don't have any.

I obviously put these signals, as I get gay men coming on to me all the time. Which is flattering, but no thanks...
I don't wear earrings.

i think its the right earing for a guy . not to sure about the girls but you can normaly tell if a guy or girl is gay once you start speaking to them . my best friend is gay and his chat up line to the fellas is what side is your bread buttered seems to work for him . if your wanting to no weather somebody was straight of gay then id say go to a gay bar ( you dont say weather your straight or gay ) im straight and go the gay bars with my friend alot most times in the bars if the guys or girls have been going there lot thay will come up to you and thay no if your straigh or gay
