I have had trouble sleeping these past couple of nights. I've tried OTC meds and they aren't working. What else do ya'll suggest? I don't take naps and drink lots of caffiene. I've heard to cut down on the caffiene, but I try not to drink it after a certain hour of the day (for example, 4 or 5 in the afternoon).

A few things that help with me:

1) Cut down on caffeine after 2-3 - "The time required for the body to eliminate one-half of the total amount of caffeine consumed (or caffeine's half-life) varies from several hours to several days, but for the average non-smoking adult it is about 3-4 hours" "If you use caffeine and are having trouble sleeping, you may want to try cutting back on your total daily intake or avoid consumption 5-7 hours before you plan on sleeping, to allow time for the caffeine to be metabolized."

2) Don't watch too much TV right before bed.

3) Check out Omega-3 and Melatonin supplements.

4) Have someone give you a back massage right before bed using relaxing cocoa butter or lightly scented relaxing oils.

You are asking for a solution and you probably know the problem. Caffiene is most likely the culprit. If you just love coffee, tea or chocolate so much, try decaf coffee and tea. Reduce the amount of sugar you intake daily. Try baked or roasted chicken in the evening for dinner. Never drink Mountain Dew. Eat no candy after 2 pm daily and take a walk for about 46 - 60 minutes in the evening. Follow with a warm bath.

1) Cut down even more so on the caffeine
2) I'm guessing you tried Melatonin? If not give it a shot
3) Smoke some weed.
4) Exercise
5) Once you get home try not to work on your PC or watch TV too long.
6) Warm milk
7) Cut down on sugar intake
8) Get drunk
9) Get a new pillow
10) resolve whatever it is that's bothering you lately.

Hope one of these work!

Stop the caffeine altogether or cut back by 2 pm.

No exercise late in the day or evening. Cut back or down on spicy foods. Don't forget that chocolate also has caffeine. (in case you like to snack on candy or drink chocolate drinks).

Don't go to your bedroom until it's bedtime. In other words, don't use your bedroom/bed for activities that you could be doing in another part of your house or apartment.

Do some relaxing activity before you go to bed- like take a relaxing bath or shower. Also sit down and perhaps read little before going to bed. Turn down the lights and rest.

If that doesn't work, you may want to try warm milk. Or, ask your doctor about it.

Stress and anxiety might be the root cause of your sleep disorder. Check if anything is bothering you ( problems) and learn to deal with them.

To hep you calm down and sleep, try a glass of milk before bed time and use more pillows.Try not to think too much and do not keep looking at the time.

I hope you sleep well tonight.

If sleep is important to you you are going to have to cut back on your coffee. Start with cutting it down to 3 and if that don't work 2, last resort you might have to give it up but I'm able to sleep still after 3.

Insomnia is often associated with an overgrowth of Candida yeast fungi. Sometimes, when the overgrowth is addressed, and the amino acid L-Glutamine is added, the insomnia becomes non-existent. Try the free tests to see if Candida may be an issue for you.

If you have trouble sleeping you should try meditating first. Or you can drink green tea and its good for you. Or try listening to some music that is soothing.
