There was no internet to play on, we had to go outside and play, no mobile phones or call waiting and we had all those mega fashion disasters.

In the 80's kids didn't come home after school and spend hours talking to someone on a computer. They went to the malls, arcades, concerts, ROLLERskating rinks, and skate parks to hangout. OFTEN!

Kids in the suburbs these days actually seem to do less today than in the 80's. They get their social fix on myspace or yahoo chat, and are content not to hang out with their friends daily.

They were happy to ride their BMX or Veriflex around town or to soccer practice instead of getting a ride in moms mini-van. They had a way of keeping in touch with eachother that often involved the use of a payphone. Trading tapes with your friends, or taking a trip to Record Town to buy the new song was a far more personal experience than downloading an MP3. MTV played music video's!!!!!

The kids had an internet then; Sure it was slower, but it was a lot more personal and a lot more fun!

The myspace generation can have their virtual world and virtual reality games, designed to make you feel like a winner.

I miss the 80's

A walk down memory lane....lol. We played a lot of card and board games. Child predators were a rarity, there were less overweight children, we used our imagination to fight the boredom and the music was better, too. The fashion was awesome! Although I wouldn't be caught dead in anything flouresant these days! And the hair! Omigod! The hair was HUGE. Aqua Net anyone? Waxing nastalgia here.

The 80's were great - we had bad hair, bad clothes, great music and a woman prime minister who was more of a man than most prime ministers.

We do however now have a free market for all businesses and a society where competition is valid and welcome. The 80's have set up a generation of people who have more disposable income than ever before, more than their parents ever did, and more leisure opportunities to enjoy.

The 80's have created a much better world.

SAY, I liked some of those fashions, and big hair. I didn't do much playing outside then, that was more like the 60's for me. The 80's were kinda foggy for me.
And if I don't remember it, it didn't happen.

I love the 80s. Fashion looked more fun than it is today - you could wear anything you wanted. Not to mention the fact that the best corny movies were made in the 80s. Can anyone say "Molly Ringwald"?

Well the great 80's. Let's see... I was working in West Berlin. Got to see the East German Army close up. Was followed around in East Berlin by the Stassi. Got to talk to my Soviet counter parts when driving to West Germany. Got to see Roland Reagan do his speech on the wall. Saw the wall come down. Great times !

Note - The Stassi was the East German Secret Police. They followed us all the time.

I'm actually more surprised that we survived the '60's. We almost had a nuclear war with Russia, society began crumbling around us, and every potentially great leader of that generation was assasinated.

And you're worried about toys to play with???????
