Don't jail the pushers and suppliers. Hang them in the town square.

Legalize recreational drugs. I say this as a person who does not take drugs (not even alcohol) and believes that taking drugs is harmful, possibly dangerous and at least a waste of time, money and energy for those who do. And I am speaking from past experience with drug usage.

The laws which criminalize drug usage DO NOT WORK! This has been proven over the past 20 years or so, as the ridiculously named 'war on drugs' has completely failed to discourage or diminish drug usage. It was proven first back in the prohibition era with alcohol.

Imagine if all the money wasted on drug law enforcement and the incarceration of people arrested for these offences were to be spent on public rehab facilities, on recreational alternatives for children, on job creation programs to help poor people find other things to do with their time and to do to earn an income? Imagine if all these drugs were available legally, through either government controlled outlets or private business that is licensed and regulated, so the drugs were clean and there was no demand for a black market? The criminals who currently make billions on this black market would have no clients.

I suspect, also, that usage would decline if all these drugs were legalized, rather than increase as those supporting criminal drug laws are always suggesting.

The legalization of recreational drugs will eliminate the black market for them resulting in cleaner, safer drugs at a more reasonable price. This will also bankrupt the gangs that are involved in the black market resulting in less guns on the street because they will not be able to afford them. Furthermore you can dissolve the DEA further saving tax dollars.

Lets face it no amount of criminalization has or will stop the drugs from coming into the country. We may as well legalize them and tax it.

Kids have much easier access to drugs right now than they do alcohol because alcohol is legal and regulated and they can get drugs anywhere.

Vote for a realistic drug policy. Completely decriminalize most recreational drugs so they can be regulated and taxed. Use the revenue for education and addiction support. When the public thinks laws are in synch with common sense those laws have no trouble being enforced. When they don't you get the drug-law situation we have now: widespread disobeyance that cannot (and never will be) eradicated.

Get rid of all drug laws then they be no problem. Today war against drug is just like prohibition in The early 20th century.

PREVENTION is the best tool to use in this matter....
drug abuse is a social problem...and can be prevented by education... constant monitor of our children and the places where the $$%$%$% people temp our children into it.
to those that have been touched by the monkey should be taken care by professionals and kept out of the environment that makes them go back to it.
it would be great if we were to keep the people and kids busy doing something..sports...work...arts... anything from preventing them to have the time to even think of taking that #$%$#%@# stuff just to try it ou or to feel good!!!

Do you mean the illegal drug problem or the problem of overprescription of questionable products pushed down our throats by the worst dealers, called big pharmaceutical companies?
Hmm is it cynical if I say for every good thing in life there are people who overindulge and make it a bad thing for themselves. Unfortunate, can we change their chemistry? I guess that takes more drugs...... sheesh.
