What is expected of men these days in a relationship?

My friends say i am whipped, a fag, a loser, for the way i treat my girlfriend and i get offended because i do what i think is right, allow me to expand. I am 100% loyal, I do romantic things, i cook for her because i love cooking, i always tell her i love her, on the days when i am too busy to call or see her i still find time to atleast swing by for 5 minutes and hug her and tell her i love her, or i'll text her a sweet little message, just so she knows she is #1 in my life and that i always think about her. I pay for everything when we go out because that is what it should be. I don't take advantege of her, we laugh, we never fight, we disagree sometimes, but never fight about it. I still love her and it has been over 2 years now. So my question is, what is expected of me as a boyfriend in today's standards? What am i doing that makes me Whipped? I do these things of my own accord. I'm a good looking guy too, so i could be a slut if i wanted, i just dont want to be. Thanks

I think more men should be like you these days. Romance and chivilary seem dead with people of this genoration. We all like to know that someone is thinking about us I think women could learn a few things too!!!!!!! Way to go good for you. As for your friends tell em to Piss off!!!!!!! you are doing just fine. here's the way I see it.....you seem like a hopeless romantic, who has found his chance at hope. You have a wonderful girl who you love to shower with love and attention. And these are things that you do on your own volition....now if she demanded to be seen once a day, or ordered you to cook for her or buy her flowers, then you'd be whipped...

trust me, My fiance is the same way you are, except he can't cook ;) , and while sometimes his friends make fun of him, I appreciate everything he does for me. And I know that what he is doing is not just making me happy, it's making him happy.

So basically what I'm trying to say is, no you're not whipped, but you are a rare species, and as long as being an amazing guy makes you happy, then do it

My partner comes home from a 10 hour shift,goes straight into the kitchen and cooks a meal for us both.
If there's nothing on the tv he will do the dishes and clean the kitchen,he cuts the grass,and gets spiders for me.
I come home from an 8 hour shift,i make us a cup of tea,give him a kiss and hug,ask him how his day was.
We talk about our days to each other and we go shopping together.
On my days off i clean the house.
He drives me where ever i want to go even though i have my own transport.
He wraps his massive arms around me every night to make sure im warm.
What are we doing wrong?

No more is expected from you than your willing to give,if you enjoy treating your girlfriend like a princess,who are people to judge.
Some of my friends say my boyfriend does far too much for me,as my boyfriend and he will tell you to mind your own business.
Ask my boyfriend who would stand infront of a speeding car so he wouldnt get hurt,not his friends thats for sure.
Women as well as men want to be seen as equal partners in these times so why not allow them.
Carry on the way your are,i bet your girlfriend appreciates you and you her.

You sound like a rare gem...I wouldn't change a thing about you!! Sometimes relationships just don't work out because people disagree on something or the other person is always looking for one up....you know the saying "the grass is always greener on the other side" some people just never figure it out...you KEEP a good thing....you don't throw it away....
I'm sorry that she didn't realize what she had...hopefully there is another girl out there that WILL !!!

your friend is just one of the ignorant men that think that if you aren't playing hard to get or always getting your way, you're whipped. he apparently also thinks that girls are just like a trophy or item instead of a person which is so old fashioned and i bet that unless he changes his attitude he's never gonna get a girl who is truly a good person. just ignore his opinion because as far as i and most other people see it (especially girls), you're a sweet guy who loves your gf a lot and shows her that by treating her well and i wish all guys in the world were like you! ;)

I for one don't think that you're whipped.I think that you're just being you're self.and that's what most women like theses day's.
i know that i like men that way.I'm speaking as a woman who has had 2 bad relationships with guys.and i have finely found the right one.and even though we aren't in the same state we love one another and talk to one another most of the time.and i know if he was here right now he'd be acting just like you.so i say keep on being loyal to you're girlfriend.I hope this helps you out. good luck

Your girlfriend is so lucky to have you! Most guys would expect to have their meals ready, a cold beer or two in the fridge, the game on TV and a whore (well, the wife or girlfriend acting like one!)ready in the bedroom ... Most men I know (and I'm UK based) don't do half of what you do - me included! - although we do do the odd thing now and again (birthdays and anniversaries lol!)
