From the 2007 Red Book
1897 cent is $3.00 in good condition
But I have recently bought some on eBay for $0.01 each. Of course they got more with shipping and handling.
You said all details are visible which may grade higher then good.

I looked up the value of my Indian Head pennies, none from '97 but '99, '01, '05 I think, and they hovered somewhere short of $5 each. But I'm sure there are more rare years which are worth more money.

For the closest "true valuation," look at coins on Ebay from the same year in similar condition. I've placed a couple links below.
$1.00 - $5.00 seems about right, depending on your condition.

Look at it under a microscope and to the rear of the headband.
If you see the word "Cochise" then you have something that´s
invaluable!
Take it to a reputable coin dealer and have it appraised.

probably no more than $1.00 tops unless they only minted a few from, what was/is it, Denver, San Francisco(I can't remember); check on the Internet and whatever you do...DON"Y CLEAN IT IN ANY WAY!!! Otherwise it will drop the price considerably.
