When I was using XP I was able to watch DVD`s. I try now and it tells me there is not a Windows 2000 Compatible DVD decoder installed. I upgraded WMP to 9.0. Can someone please tell me if I can get a free DVD decoder or will I need to go purchase one.

Upgrading WMP 9.0 will not help. WMP only is a media file player but not a decoder for DVD's. I think you should buy a new decoder as it can come with a warranty. You should also upgrade your OS to Windows XP professional as it is much better than 2000.Also you can upgrade to WMP 11.0 which can easily be available at download, com

"Boot disks" do not quite exist because the previous due Nineteen Nineties. homestead windows OS cds and DVDs notwithstanding are bootable, this is, your computer can commence from the cd, provided your bios helps booting from a CD (probability is it ought to, yet you ought to verify your settings to substantiate). do no longer recognize about homestead windows 2000 (not in any respect tried it), yet in terms of xp, vista, or homestead windows 7, what i'd do is format thepersistent and do a sparkling set up making use of a homestead windows cd or dvd. And convinced you want to get carry of a replica of homestead windows to position in, until eventually you've some type of fix cd.

Your friend should have re-installed your XP ?
Or was that stolen too ?
Why not just go out and buy a genuine version of XP and then ALL of your problems will be solved ?

With a recovery disk being this cheap, there's no reason for you to have to pirate it.
