Sit down and talk to him. Ask him why he will hurt himself. I would also pray hard if you do pray. I don't know if calling his parents would be a good idea, because if the student is serious, then he would probably hurt himself if his parents found out, but his parents should know about his behavior. If he is talking about suicide or hurting himself, he needs help. Talk to him and be nice and understanding, but let him know that it is not ethical and that there are plenty of girls his age. He also needs help, so tell his parents about it, but I hope they don't freak out because that could make things worse.

Refer this student to the school's guidance counselor (if it's high school or lower). Parents may need to be notified, too.

Refer this student to the college or university's counseling dept.
Or a local mental health agency. The student won't like it, but it needs to be done.

This sounds like emotional blackmail. The student is mentally unstable and is using emotional tactics to get his way. Not a good thing at all.

The teacher needs to protect herself and the student, too.

I would start with telling your principal and involving the guidance department, you DO NOT want to jeopardize your job and career for a very confused student. I would make your superiors informed so that if something bad happens you took the ball out of your court. DO IT NOW!!!!

Are you kidding?!?! Get immediate psychological intervention for the student. Unethical and unacceptable no matter what the age. Any threats aren't worth the possible risks. They are trying to guilt you into changing your mind, leave you with guilt and responsibilty if she does follow through and or most likely they are CRYING out for help. GET THEM HELP!
