i have been praying for kids for most of my life but haven't found the correct partner.
i go by african-american but i have indian, white, mexican, puerto rican in the family and the baby is hispanic.
how can i keep him without having him taken away by the government or state?
what are the neccessary steps to keep him. could i just tell him that i am his father and his mom gave him up to me?
i think it's a gift from God.

You may feel like the child is a gift from God, but you need to do the legal thing, and go to the authorities. You may or may not be allowed to keep the child as a foster child.

You cannot just keep him, because you will not have the legal papers that you need for his future, and it will really mess things up for him. In order to attend school, daycare, go to doctors, receive assistance, be insured, or anything else, the child will need to have a legal birth certificate, a social security number (which only a parent or legal guardian can obtain), and you will need proof of parentage or legal guardianship for all of the above.

If you love that child, keep it legal!

Good luck!

Okay, first off, ethnic make-up is completely irrelevant here and a baby is NEVER an 'it' as you referred to him or her. If this child has been given to you by the mother, do your best. Of course someone of athority needs to know so the proper paperwork can be processed. If anything happens while the child is in your care and you do not have guardianship rights/paperwork they will take him/her away. I wouldn't start off by lying to the child about you being the father. Just let nature run it's course as far as that topic is concerned. Good luck! Maybe you should pray some more. This is a lifetime commitment, not a temporary thing! You seem very unsure.

Yes, you should raise him. This is what you have been praying for. As for the state, go with the mother to the court house and have the mother sign over custody of the child to you. Good luck and i hope everything works out for the best.,

Whoa. I don't think this is the kind of thing you should be asking random people on the internet about! Seriously.

i think you might have to adopth the child so you can have legal parental rights. otherwise at any time the biological parent could take the child back..
