LOLOLOLOL That has got to be one of the funniest things I have ever heard. If they canonized him, it would be a joke.
He could be St. Petrol, patron saint of Big Oil

WHAT? Canonize GW Bush? No way, NO WAY! That's an insult to all the great people that truly are Saints and have been Canonized!
If he were a Saint, he'd be like Saint George of Texas (There are several St. Georges). He'd be the Patron Saint of Made Up Words and Invisible Weapons of Mass Destruction.

"Cononizing" George W. Bush would just about finish the bankruptcy of the entire saint-making process - and entirely alienate all the fundamentalist Protestants who make up Bush's sole suriviving support.
"Canonization" is a relatively elaborate process conducted ONLY by the Roman Catholic Church. The establishment of "saints" was, in fact, one of the many arguments raised in the Reformation about the structures the Roman Catholic Church erected as the practice of Christianity. Those practices were violently and bloodily opposed.
Bush has done nothing to "save" Christianity, but I have indeed heard this argument before. Many of the extreme fundamentalists think that Bush is the only President in decades - and they are not at all pleased with what they considered Reagan's breaking faith the them - who both professes a version of their faith and acts on it.
In fact, Bush is indeed the first President in an extremely long time - since long before the Civil War - to attempt to mate the structures and functions of the national government with a select group of fundamentalist Protestant churches.
This is, actually, very good grounds for impeachment.
However, there are many better reasons to impeach Bush - but only if it could be a blanket action clearing out that entire nest of war criminals in the White House.
Bush will never be a saint, and Reagan certainly will not be, either. They both were guilty of crimes against humanity, corruption in office and a dedicated attempt to destroy the nation for the benefit of a few. Let your grocery story line mate dither, she's an airhead anyhow.

I do not believe either Reagan or George W. Bush will ever be canonized. Neither one has accomplished acts that would endure them to the Catholic Church. Yes, they've done things that can be considered "good" (this of course is a whole other debate), but not enough to be considered a saint. Let me put it like this, Mother Teresa of Kolkata (formerly Calcutta) is only beatified, not canonized. If SHE can't automatically be made a saint, then I doubt either one of the US Presidents would be.
Considering that President Bush can't even receive a majority vote of approval for his actions in his own country, I don't see how the Catholic Church could make him a saint--which needs examples of " lives have been marked by heroic virtue, and only after this has been proved by common repute for sanctity and by conclusive arguments." President Bush falls far short, as does President Reagan.

He's not even from Texas, and the accent is fake. Good Job!
If the way to make anyone a saint they should make his speech writer a saint... he works hard and Bush f-cks it up.

No president has ever been canonized, and I doubt very much that any ever will be. But saints can have the same name as other saints-- it happens very often.
