One big downfall is that if you pay late on the transferred balance or any other credit card, they may be able to raise your rate. I found this out the hard way...right back up to the 24% rate. Some rates go over 30% these days. If you proceed with this plan, or even if you don't, you MUST make your payments on time. Between rate increases and the $39 late fees, you can't catch up.

If you want to stop paying the gym, cancelling the credit card will just lead to headaches. The best route is the most direct one--see if you can sweet-talk your gym into letting you cancel your contract.

When the Gym sends in the auto payment, the payment will be denied. Then your account will be "unpaid" for that month. When y ou come in, someone will likely tell you and ask you to pay the month bill, as well as to set up a new form of regular payment.

If you have a contract, you'll still be obligated to pay and you may incur additional charges for being late or whatever. If you are unhappy with the gym, you could talk to them and cancel your contract, there's usually a fee or something, but they usually have provisions for that sort of thing.

you will still owe the gym money. unfortunately a lot of people get stuck with gym bills. I say go talk to gym management and tell them how you feel- maybe they will work out something with you that is good for both parties.

Well, if you're in a contract, you have agreed to pay so they could sue you for the money, or they could ruin your credit report. You will still end up paying, I bet.

My guess is that after the account is truly shut down your payments will not be made unless you specified they can send your account to a collection agency.
