Islam is criticised because it is different. Because it is a threat to Christian hegemony. Christians belittle other religions because it is in their nature to do so. Hijab is just one example.
My mother-in-law does not wear hijab. Her sister does. They are both good people.

You are 'forced' to wear the hijab if you are a practicing Muslim woman :
"and say to the believing women...that they should draw their veils over their bosoms and not display their beauty" Surah 24:31
Personally, I feel Muslim women are 'caged' as opposed to men because a handsome man may show his face in full display, yet a woman must keep hers covered. That is not liberating.
Furthermore, Islam teaches that men are superior to women :-
"… And women shall have rights similar to the rights against them, according to what is equitable; but men have a degree (superiority) over them" Surah 2:228
Women have half the rights of men :-
a. In court witness Surah 2:282
b. In inheritance Surah 4: 11
These and other examples show me that to be a Muslim woman is not equal or liberating.

yes we used to wear hijab because it is our identity.hijab not only save us but also it give us a confidence to confront any problem in life.west criticised it because they think it is sign of slavery.i asked western culture how they treat their women.every one knows the answer they just see them as machines that can be used for fun.check your own statics where are most of rape cases are hapenning in muslim countries or in western countries.no one have to say anything.we know every thing.
who told people in the west that women are punished for adultry but men were set free.no its a gr8 lie.we are told by islam that any one whether men or women have done such type of sin will be punushed equally.if western people dont know about islam than they should not say any thing.

It seems odd to me that in the west we're considered to be so free when you talk about the treatment of rape victims in the Islamic world, but in the West we're supposedly considered to be equal without differences so women are not allowed to say no to sex. So instead of helping women here who have been raped, we don't believe it exists. Or if we say it does, we never prosecute. No society is free of it's evils.
Btw, hijab covers the hair, niqab covers the face. People should learn their terminology before pretending they know what they're talking about.

if you say wearing hijab is a woman's choice, then why dont isalm leave those muslim women who dont think its right to wear it be free not to, as you said LIBERATE , I THInk it should be a woman's choice, and not his husband, brothers or father's choice to say if she shld wear an hijab or not.

That would explain why Muslim women are stoned to death for adultery while the men go unpunished, right?
