If someone has a security clearance but they get married to a foreigner, would that change anything? Would it matter what country the foreigner was from?

I used to process Security Clearances when I was in the Army......it didn't affect low level (say confidential, Secret) but it did come into play with the Top Secret investigations.

I don't know if anyone ever got denied based strictly on that......never really checked to be honest....but it certainly caused ALOT more paperwork and time (for the processors and the investigators). OH and it DID matter what country......as I recall. It's been about 7 years so I may be a little rusty with my info....but I hope this helps a bit.

My sister's ex-husband was offered a job (while still married to her) at Pasadena's JPL. They in fact did investigate her (mainly an interview as far as she's aware) and even told her that her nationality was a "low risk" so the investigation was brief and did not affect on him getting the position. While still married, he was later offered another job at the US Naval Research Lab. In both cases, I don't know what kind of clearance he had, but due to his research field he might be in to very sensitive secrets, albeit not decisin making.
