Personally, I would go every day but vary what you do so it doesn't become monotomus. I'm a running and have been for six solid years, and since this last year in August I haven't missed a day of running or training...except for the portions where I am in between seasons and recovering. The key is to get your heart rate to a point where your body is feeling the stress from working out but not to the point where it becomes too much. Whatever you do in the gym is fine but if you go everyday I suggest that you do at least 20 -40mins on a treadmill. This will increase you cardio and help you breathe better from the smoking you have finally quit. It may be tought but the exercise will actually increase your chances of finally kicking your habits. As another suggestion, try and get out of the gym and hit some trails in a park nearby or run on the road. This will help make working out more enjoyable. If you want I can provide some workouts and training tips that may be able to help you. Congrats on kicking your habits!

honestly if I were you I would go EVERYDAY. Of course being 30 that should mean you have a career and other things you must do to keep your life running. but you must make this a routine in your life if you are going to stick with it. If you make it a priority in your life get a personnal train for the first 4 months if not longer because a good personal trainer will call your *** and give you guilt trips if you skip out on your appointments. you just stopped smoking and gave up alcohol, GREAT, now all you ahve to do is stick with it. Quiting doesnt mean **** if you go back to it.
going to the gym will keep your mind of those things and you can meet hot people of the opposite sex also!!!
going for a bit everyday, I go in the morning before work, you will see results faster and will feel greater sooner also. it'll be hell at first but after you get through that you'll feel much more confident then you ever have having accomplished that.
good luck!!!

You can go up to 6 days a week if you want. They say to lose weight, you should exercise at least 30 minutes, but preferably 60 minutes a day, 5-6 days a week. If you have an assessment, you can ask a trainer there about what's the best way to get started.

start by going twice a week then build up to three or four times. you must try to leave rest days so your body can adapt and work more effeciently. so either alternate or do two days training then a day off. if you do three together you'll get too tired. the main thing is not to go mad at it or you will get bored quickly and if you miss a session it will feel worse. I started just one day a week 10 years ago and now go 3 to 4 times. swimming can be done every day but get the trainers at the gym to work out a program you can stick to..that's the key. people who are new to the gym i go to ask me how i can do so many sit ups so controlled but it takes years to get to that level so don't try to compete with others just do your thing and enjoy.

Be looking at 3-4 days a week. you need to give your body a day to recover in between sessions. Plus, your body builds muscle for a whole day after you exercise, so you don't want to interrrupt that period.Beginning I would stick to a firm three days a week, and work through the soreness. Stretch good, do it 3 times a day.
An ice bath will also help the soreness.

Start out with three visits per week, and it's an absolute must that you seek professional and individualised advice (structured cardio / weights programme) from a personal trainer.
Build up gradually to four/five visits a week, depending on when you can fit it in. There's no point going that often initially, though, as you're only going to burn yourself out and get pissed off from the tiredness, and because your body will still be cleansing itself from the long-term effects of smoking.

Though I have been slacking lately I go to the weight room 3 days a week (Mon, Wed, Fri). the book Body for Life says do the weight room 3 days a week and cardio (pool, elliptical machine, tread mill, rowing machine, etc) the other 3 days and then take a day of rest. www.bodyforlife.com

tell the instructor wot u want from the gym and if their any good they should devise a fitness programme for u
classes are a very good idea if u want general fitness because contstant training on say a tread mill can become very boring.
dont go flat out on any one machine either as ur body becomes used to a certain exercise and u wont get much beneift from it

yeah 3-5 times. i try to go on sundays, tuesdays, wednesdays and fridays. enbough to keep up the intensity but not so much your muscles dont have time to recover. try to do at least 25 mins cardio and a wide selection of weights at about 60 - 80% of your one rep max. alternating between upper body and lower body where possible
