Please do. I think that is very kind and I always say thank you. Good rules stay the same. Thank you for asking.

Yes, it's still a good idea to open a door for me. You can tell what kind of person a guy is when he opens a door for a lady.

YES! I find that I am quite shocked , and PLEASED when a man does this, or insists on doing it, because for so long, since women became "liberated" I have opened my own doors. I don't think you should be "required" to open a door for a lady...(meaning she should not stand there waiting with that look on her face) but if the opportunity is there, you should do it.

Actually, the rule is Politeness and Manners, and that never changes. Yes, it's ok for a gentleman to open the door for a lady. It's also ok for a lady to open the door for a gentleman. I hold doors open for anybody who is just behind me, and let them go in first.
Have a wonderful day, and bless your heart for asking.

I love it when a guy opens the door for me! I am an independant, educated, executive woman, but I never turn down manners! And I always say 'Thank you'.

I have to say that I have opened the door for a man every now and then - it is just being polite. Manners are universal. Never stop using them.

Well this can be a tricky question due to the age of the woman. When I was in college, I was going through my feminist stage and thought if a man opened my door it meant he thought I was incapable of doing it myself and therefore thought of me as a weak woman. It has been nine years since college and let me tell you, as a woman I very much appreciate having the door opened for me, it is a sign that shows respect not disrespect. Keep this tidbit in mind!

It is a nice gesture no matter what gender. If a girl throws a fit, that means she is over picky in the first place. Who knows what she wouldn't like then!

PS - Sometimes it is easier for the man to open the door as this arms are longer and he is taller. He can reach and open the door from behind a gal easier than she can do for him.

I really feel sorry for guys on this one.

They open the door (as they have been taught), and get sneered at...or worse, lectured.

They *don't* open the door, and get the same thing.

I guess if I were a guy, I'd open the door, and if I got any kind of negative reaction, I'd shrug and let the damn thing slam on her.

I, personally, appreciate the kindness and respect of a guy opening a door for me. It makes me feel feminine.

As for myself, I always appreciate the fact when men open doors for me. It is a common courtesy to do that. It makes me feel that chivalry is not dead yet and men still have manners.
