Amnesty for illegals is bull crap!! Why reward people that come into our country illegally?? That makes no sense.
Pass amnesty for them so that our government can support them...yeah that sounds like a great idea....yeah whatever. If you give the illegals amnesty then you may as well open the borders completely and let in every single person that comes knoking at the door! Our quality of life would go down, Our economy would be drained, and our country would become a dumping ground for anyone and anything. Amnesty is a BAD idea!!! They should all go back home.

The 12 million here would turn into about 40-50 million, as they would bring their illegal families here. Schools would fail and hospitals would be over-crowded. The minimum wage would stagnate another 15 years before being increased by even a quarter / hour. Welfare would be busted as 4/5 of these 40-50 have never paid a single contributed to the system. The politics of some states would change, as the illegals would seek to become a majority somewhere. American poverty would explode and become a disasterous pandemic, and not just a phenomenon of isolated pockets. But, whoever was in the Mexican flag business, would flourish as we know of the illegals penchant for waving their native flags on our soil.

No AMNESTY!

Cher got it right ... since the majority of the illegals are unskilled workers, their taxes would be negligible, and the costs would remain the same ... and has anybody thought of this.... economies go in cycles ... at the moment there is no problem in the United States, but it's a given that this economy will take a dip too at some stage ... which will mean lay offs ... what do we do then with the extra 20-3-40 million people? You guessed right ... not only would a great number of them in all likelihood be laid off ... but since they won't be able to sustain themselves they would all to a man claim welfare ... and as citizens they would be entitled to it ...

The former illegal aliens would still be here, they would still be on welfare, the only difference is they would all be paying taxes that they would all get back when they filed taxes due to being low income and head of household with dependent children. We, the TAX payers, who strive to stay OFF welfare and don't get much back (if any) would still be supporting them. Who knows how much they'll still be making 'under the table' that is not reported. After all, they got in here as criminals, what's to say they don't keep up their criminal activity. (lying, cheating, stealing, so they can live off us)

"I'll tell you WHAT":

If illegal aliens were given amnesty and began to pay taxes and use services like households headed by legal immigrants with the same education levels, the estimated annual net fiscal deficit would increase from $2,700 per household to nearly $7,700, for a total net cost of $29 billion.

Costs increase dramatically because unskilled immigrants with legal status -- what most illegal aliens would become -- can access government programs, but still tend to make very modest tax payments.

Although legalization would increase average tax payments by 77 percent, average costs would rise by 118 percent.

Probably the same thing that happened with the 1986 amnesty under Reagan. It just encouraged more people to come here illegally, bring their extended families and created an even bigger drain on medical, educational and social services as illegals sent billions more back to Mexico.

it would be even more screwed up then it is now. Not only would you be rewarding CRIMINALS again, but just more would come and hang out an break the laws until they pressured the politicians into another amnesty. A never ending cycle that would ultimately lead to total disaster. Best thing to do is NO AMNESTY and just kick ALL of the illegals out NOW.

Prices of stuff would go up.... or the people currently here illegially who get amnesty would probably be out of work once they demand normal wages.... and companies would just find a way to hire other illegals.... so either prices will go up on goods or we will have even more poor people here who are jobless.

Well we would probably have more people living off of our welfare and health care systems which would have a negative effect. But if these people became legit employees and we taxed their pay, it would help offset some of the cost. Most of the problem isn't with the economic affects though, most of the problem is with the principal of rewarding people who came across the border illegally and jumped to the front of the line.
