I think a two structural changes will help the Catholic Church over the next 100 years.
1) Let priest marry. This is church rule that does have some merit but the advantages of married priest in terms of life experiences make it worth it. Also it increases the pool of potential priest.
2) Women priest. Yes we are different from Jesus being female but we are still part of the human race. Let God call whomever he wants to be priests.
I do not think any significant "adjustments" in theology are required. Few people agree with every aspect of any group they belong to. Did Jesus have brother brothers and sisters, was Mary a Virgin her entire life or do saints hear my prayers and other issues are all thinks that individual Catholics can asses as part of their daily faith.
If only the Pope and Cardinals would come ask me for advice....Maybe they are here using an assumed name. Where did you say where from???

It doesn't need to change a thing. I think that more people need to change to stay Catholic. The Catholic Church isn't swayed by public opinion...although a lot of it's members and Clergy are.
If the Pope suddenly declared that the Eucharist was simply an ancient Pop-Tart...that wouldn't change the Truth. The Church is the Truth. Man is a pretty far thing from being the Truth.
Once a church starts moving away from the Truth, it becomes nothing but a club.

To rp_joe: I believe the "brothers and sisters" mentioned in the Bible are the children of Joseph from his first marriage. There is no mention of Mary having any other children.
To answer the question: Priest should be allowed to marry. Women should be allowed to be priests. I believe this will happen in time.

Simply put, more orthodoxy and fidelity to the Faith! If you look at the statistics, the liberal and protestentized dioceses are the ones dying out, while the conservative and staunchly Catholic dioceses are the ones with people flocking in.
American and Europe will probably become missionary lands, with priests from Africa and Latin American recatechizing and preaching the Gospel to a post-Christian society.

The Catholic Church Needs to get its head out of its *** and stop trying to change its own religion, they need to focus more on Dogma than Law. I'm Catholic and I don't like the way the Church handles things, but I strongly believe in its teachings.

How about teaching the truth?
Mary: Perpetual Virgin
The Catechism records that Mary remained a virgin throughout her entire life:
"Mary remained a virgin in conceiving her Son, a virgin in giving birth to him, a virgin in carrying him, a virgin in nursing him at her breast, always a virgin." Pg. 128 #510
"And so the liturgy of the Church celebrates Mary as Aeiparthenos, the 'Ever-virgin.'" Pg. 126, #499
Either Mary remained a virgin or she didn't. The position you will take depends upon who you believe... the traditions of men, or God's Word.
The Bible states that after giving birth to Jesus, Mary bore other children:
"Is not this the carpenter's son? is not his mother called Mary? and his brethren, James, and Joses, and Simon, and Judas? Matthew 13:55
"Is not this the carpenter, the son of Mary, the brother of James, and Joses, and of Juda, and Simon? and are not his sisters here with us? And they were offended at him." Mark 6:3
The Apostle Paul wrote:
"But other of the apostles saw I none, save James the Lord's brother." Galatians 1:19

The Catholic Church lacks spirit. It is all repetitive and there is no heart behind it.
They also have to stop praying to people and only pray to Jesus. Mary was blessed among women but is not the equivalent of Jesus and she, nor Paul, or any other Saint CAN NOT HEAR PRAYERS!!!!

I think you already have it; priests should be allowed to marry and have normal family lives.

They need to embrace the fact that religion was a great idea when we didn't have policemen around. And that we are educated well enough now that we don't need to believe in an imaginary deity.
