depends what your goals are...if you are body building, then rest about 30-60 seconds...if you're circuit training then you don't want to rest that long between exercises, you want to go one exercise to the other...i wouldn't rest more then 10 seconds if you're doing the circuit training

Let's be clear here: You shouldn't rest for any more than 2 minutes between SETS, and 60-90 seconds is better. When you're doing your REPS, you shouldn't rest at all. Your muscles should be engaged full-time in either raising the weight or fighting gravity when lowering the weight. However long it takes you to raise the weight, take twice as long to lower it. You build more muscle on the negative (lowering) phase than you do on the positive (raising) phase.

5-10 seconds. The point of the reps is to give the body a little break inbetween. If you stop too long, you lose the cardio aspect of the workout. Do what you feel is comfortable, any pain, stop.

I am assuming that you mean "stets" not "reps."

The amount of time that you rest depends on your goal. If you want to build muscle mass (like a body builder) as a general rule of thumb you should rest 45-90 seconds.

If you are trying to test your one-rep-max, you should wait about 5 minutes - it takes that long for my muscle's ATP to regenerate.

It really depends. If you are doing larger weights and fewer reps, take between one and one and a half minutes between sets. If you are doing less weight, but more reps, take about 30 seconds between sets. Also, if you are just a beginner, take more time between sets.

I do track and we don't really waste much time between reps. But we don't do heavy weight training as much as cardio. But make sure you take 1 day off between hard work outs to let your muscles "repair and build" other wise your just slowing yourself down.

The amount of time you should rest depends on what you are working out for. If you are lifting to build bulk you take at least 30 seconds. If you lift to tone you should take shorter rests.

He is talking about reps people, not sets. For reps about 2 seconds. Just enough time to reassert your grip if you need to, and get a good breath or good exhale.
