Is anyone else fed up with local autority parking enforcement. Is this the only crime where one is assumed guilty until proven innocent. Is it fair that you can pay £2 to park for 1 hour then if you are 5 minutes late you are charged the equivalent of 25 hours parking fee?

Don't even get me started on the parking enforcements in London! And I think Lambeth is the worst council when it comes to issuing fines. I read this thing on the net that a whopping 65% of parking tickets issued are ILLEGAL! It could be because the ticket doesn't have clear or sufficient information so a lot of people pay out for fines issued on tickets that aren't worthless.

No, that qualifies as 'collecting your shopping'..... I have no great love for local authority parking regulators, but accept their right to do so and have less time for the whingers. Firstly, you are not 'guilty until proven innocent' - you have exactly the same right to take it to court as with any other offence, and the authority will have to prove the infringement (though this is usually in the form of a parking attendant testifying to their record of events). However to save everybody's time and effort, most places allow you to pay the fine at a lesser rate if you just accept the ticket (though in doing so you tacitly accept your guilt.... is effectively pleading guilty in return for a reduced penalty). Secondly, yes, it's entirely fair to be 5 minutes late and be fined - most places allow you the 5 mins, and then give you the ticket... simple answer is to aim to be 10 minutes early back....the rate of penalty is advertised on the parking charge board by law, and by leaving your car there and purchasing a ticket you accept the terms and conditions. If you hate it that much, use taxis....

No its not fair, not for being five minutes late anyway, the council say you must return to your vehicle on time as to make the system fair to all,IE only 2 hours max stay, then you must leave in order for the next person to park. But as for loading restrictions that's a hard one, you must be seen to be loading,if your not seen by the parking attendant/warden you will be issued with a pcn, that's the law under the road traffic act 1991. In answer to the first part of your question, yes loading your gazebo dose qualify, but you must be seen to be loading by the warden/attendant, PS by law loading can only be dead items, IE table, bed, gazebo, etc

no and then you get people who don't even pay the tickets and don't get noticed by the traffic warden. I parked the other day and had to pay for 2 hours (least ammount) i was only 1 hour and when i got back into my car i offered it to this man and he said 'oh no thanks i'm only going to be 5 minutes'. I just thought, you still have to pay!!!!!! people like that really wind me up and they never ever get caught!
