I have a great deal of repect for the Police.

But it does seem to me that they can be a little introverted. In the village a police car was vandalised over the weekend and the ammount of police activity surrounding this incident is huge.

Why do they not do the same when my car is vandalised?

Any thoughts?

My husband is a retired police officer. These men and women become like brothers and sisters because of what they go through together. There is so much that the public doesn't know about . Like the time my husband was called to arrest a man that had slung a newborn baby into a wall. And the time he had to stand guard over a man who had blown his head off until the ambulance arrived. And the time he talked a depressed young man out of jumping off of a bridge over the interstate.

II may seem that they don't care, but they do it's just that they have seen so much that it gets pretty routine to them. Also, that police car that was vandalized very likely had police equipment in it such as guns, a computer, and other police department property.

Well, here's my thoughts. You have to wonder, if a person commits a crime against a police officer or police property, would they have any respect for private citizens? My opinion is no and I think that the police understand that too. They know if someone will take on law enforcement, they may not hesitate to hurt the innocent. Think about how you feel when someone wrongs you, outraged right? I think being an officer intesifies that feeling since they are given the the responsibility of protecting people.

police arent just people, they directly represent the government and the law, anything directly commited against them is taken as a serious offense because of that fact.

Policing two civilians in a scuffle is one thing, policing somoene who is attacking the person who represents order and peace is completely different.

its like setting a neighborhood house on fire, verses burning down the white house. They both house people, but the white house is home to the man who represents the whole democracy.

because they are out dealing with the darker side of humanity. if your car gets vandalized it's probably random, whereas a cop car is vandalized probably BECAUSE it's a cop car... not just some random car sitting there.

that makes them feel attacked personally.

i've had my car vandalized and i took it personally, too, so i see where you are coming from, but you are right -- they didn't really care all that much!
