Why is it that whenever people talk about the Catholic Church, they're always talking about how corrupt it is? Why don't they ever talk about the teachings of the church and realize that man is capable of sin, even the clergy? Why do people let the actions of men sway them from the word of God?

You can probably guess this, but I'm Catholic, and I myself am not to proud of our church structure.

What I do like are the core teachings of the church and the use of the UNALTERED bible, and the fact that one must see a priest to be forgiven for their sins. Other religions don't require a religious figure to have sins forgiven, all they have to do is say their sorry to God and their sins are forgiven.

You People are focusing on the laws of the Catholic Church, their laws are made by man, and thus are falliable. I am speaking about the Dogma of the church, the teachings of Jesus Christ passes on to the Catholic Church and unaltered by any man.

Public indoctrination has taught most , at least the brain dead people, that if you are White, Male, Heterosexual, Rich and Christian, All of which apply to the catholic church, you must be the devil.
The funny thing is that if you compare the terrible things the catholic church has done recently, both alleged and true, don't come close to the amount and severity of atrocities committed by the employees of the public education system. Try to get that on the news media and YOU will be crucified.
Of course there is always the past and the fact that the catholic church has killed thousands upon thousands of people in the name of the church in the last 2000 years, which is terrible, But they won't even bat an eye when you mention the over 150 million people socialism has killed in the last 100 years through collectivism alone.
For the record I am not a catholic, nor am I a devout christian.

Well because it is a target to be aimed at as the first Christian religion. Yes it has been involved in many wrongs doings
Yes there have been some very bad people who were proud to be associated with the Catholic faith.
It is better to focus on the here and now and what we can do as individuals in the world - the right direction to go in and by following an uncorrupted version of the Bible for guidance is a step in the right direction. People can claim that the Church is false, or corrupted but then this is what we expect as Christians. The road is not meant to be easy.

I realize that everyone is capable of sin, clergy no exception. When I talk about the Catholic church I don't bother talking about the corruption therein, I'd rather talk about how it doesn't match up with the Bible. The Catholic church has been deceiving people for centuries claiming it teaches what God says yet it holds it's traditions, catechisms, and proclamations from councils to interpret the Bible or even supersede the Bible. To me, this is the real issue.

People always want to find something wrong with religious people. Any time a Christian stumbles people will point and say "Look and those 'Christians', they think they're so perfect". People like to rejoice in the failure of a righteous man, it makes them feel better. And the reason people choose the Catholic Church as the center of most harassment? Because it was the first Christian Church and the only Church founded by Jesus.

Roman Catholicism teaches that salvation is available only through the Catholic church:

"The Second Vatican Council's Decree on Ecumenism explains: 'For it is through Christ's Catholic Church alone, which is the universal help toward salvation, that the fullness of the means of salvation can be obtained.'" Pg. 215, #816

Here, the 1994 catechism reaffirms the existing teaching of Vatican II, that salvation can be obtained only through the Roman Catholic church. The catechism leaves no doubt that the Catholic church is necessary for salvation:

"...all salvation comes from Christ the Head through the Church which is his Body: Basing itself on Scripture and Tradition, the Council teaches that the Church, a pilgrim now on earth, is necessary for salvation..." Pg. 224, #846

Its the leadership that continues to teach lies.

It's the actions of those men that have changed church doctrine and beliefs over the years so that the church doesn't even resemble what it started as. Example, a few years ago, the Pope came out and stated that he believed that hell was a figurative rather than a literal place. The Bible clearly says otherwise (Revelation) There have been instance after instance of the same.

The problem is that people look at the Catholic Church from the outside. They have an exterior gaze on the Church, and therefore cannot understand her innermost workings and reasons for doing what she does.

The Church can only be understood from within, by someone who lives a life that is centred on the Mystery of Christ, in the Eucharist, within the Church community. In this way, the Mystery of the Church is a Mystery of Love. Love cannot be understood by a third party who is simply gazing at two people in love. It can only be understood from within the love relationship. So too with the Church. She cannot be understood from the outside. Unless one loves the Church, and lives of the Mystery of the Church (particularly through participation in the Holy Eucharist), he or she cannot claim to truly know the Church.

To repeat, then: the Church, founded by Jesus Christ, is a fruit of His Love for humanity. The Church is the fruit of love, and can therefore only be known and appreciated in that same Love. For those who do not "understand" the Catholic Church, there is only one solution: love her, and you will understand her.

Probably because most other churches sprang from Catholicism, and of those most view a lot of Catholic beliefs as false doctrine. That only adds to the corruption you're talking about... but I personally don't think anything of God would be corrupt. I could go on lol there's just sooooo much...it really is overwhelming, I think.

The Catholic Church has done more damage to the world than many other religions. They have changed Scripture to suit their purposes. They have instituted religion over Truth & called it piety. They pray to false gods such as Mary. The make idols, also known as graven images. They had synods that directly brought about anti-Semitism. They teach Apostolic succession & the Papacy, which is total blasphemy. They have the whole Vatican doo doo going on. Look at the sheer $ invested in Rome. Then look at the poverty in the world.

You're absolutely right that people shouldn't be so caught up in the downfallings of the people and more caught up in the Word. The fact is, however, that people would rather see one sermon than hear ten. I think the real problem with Catholicism is not their humanity, but their religion. It's not about a relationship with Catholics, it's about ritual.
