Square boxes are easier to manufacture, and will work for both round pizzas and square pizzas. That way, the pizza place only needs to purchase one style of pizza box to satisfy its needs.

Besides, can you imagine trying to shut a round box with the lid attached? It would be so difficult!

It would not be cost effective to make a round box for a couple of reasons: First the square box can be made on standard cutting equipment, a round box cant.. Next a round box would have to have some special closure device where the square box lid just fits inside the bottom...Then the storage and stacking of a round box would never work. They would be to unstable to stack as amany as are needed in a busy pizza location

A square box is cheaper to buy for the pizza maker. Doesn't make sense does it? To me, a box is a box. Seems like the cost would be the same.

I think probably because a square box is easier to geometrically make then a cylinder type would be. So its probably for financial reasons as well as time and convience. A lot of places use pizza boxes for other things, so by using one kind of box they can kill multiple birds with one stone.

i guess cause it's easier to fold a trillion square boxes than circular ones. (dominos, pizza hut) and most pizzas are still round because it's easier and faster to toss pizza crust than to mold it into a square to fit the box

Also, it doesn't look bad, is it?

that is a storage answer. And as for making sq. pizzas - then they could be envisioned to make the pizza sufficiently large to in high quality condition the field. That'd value them extra funds. that's all funds.

because boxes are, i don't know...box shaped (which is square)!

it's better to ship in a box to protect the contents and to have space for advertising the product...branding is important.
