Is this normal, can it be harmfull, what can we do to stop her if it is?

She's probably in heat or she WAS in heat, take her to the Vet.

Was she recently in heat? Is so then she may be pregnant. If not then she might go into heat soon...
You could always call the Vet and see what the Vet tech has to say over the phone.

Most likely she is in heat. That's what they do to keep there selves clean they swell up and lick themselves. Its natural it don't hurt them there is no need to take her to a vet or ne thing she is just fine let it run its course and it will go away and then in about 2-3 weeks it will happen all over again.

she is in heat . no it will not hurt her she is licking it cause its uncomfortable. my dog does the same thing.keep her away from other dogs or you will have some puppies. she also might get to where she wants to be left alone its just like pms.

Is she in heat? if so it will pass in about 7 to 10 days!! I would get her fixed and she stop that!!

She could be going into heat or pregnant. Depending on if there are males around.

If shes not desexed she could be in season.Or she may have a bladder or urine infection.
