If some people get offended when they see a naked pretty girl in a magazine, why does it surprise you that some people get offended with murder, bloodbath, incest, sexism and racism depicted in the bible? My mother, despite being christian, always says she find the OT too violent and sick.
I've read more violent and pornographic books than the bible, yet it doesn't surprise me a bit that some people find the bible offensive, it doesn't contain the most beautiful story in the world, you know (I'm sure christians will disagree).
Other people get offended about how the bible is used to justify any nonsense, this is practiced by other religions as well, though.
If people who find it offensive needs help, those who believe in the literal content of the bible need psychiatric treatment.

The bible is no more offensive to me than a book of Greek myths. However, I am incredibly offended when our leaders draw from the bible when making decisions that impact my life. I am not Christian, and I should not have to see elected leaders quote the bible in Congress as support for a bill/ law.
The bible influences political decisions that impact me, often negatively. I do not want to live in a theocracy, and yet that is what the US is. Only when religion has been discredited can I live unafraid of what extremists may do.
Extremist Islamic leaders have declared the US one of 5 Christian nations that they want attacked. Should I die in a bombing because your beliefs offend and threaten them?
It is not the bible I find fault with, but the followers who mangle the original messages to suit their needs, you included.

Not offensive, Just conflicting.
God is portraid to be an unconditionally loving God with endless conditions. One of these ideas has to be untrue.
I'm betting the conditions are the untrue part.
They all sound too much like the fears of controling paternilistic men to be Gods concerns.
Love and blessings

It's no more offensive than "Mein Kampf" or "The Turner Diaries".
If people saw the Bile - oops, bible - for the piece of fiction that it is, there wouldn't be a problem. It's those who take it seriously that I worry about.

It encourages the mistreatment of women, children, slavery, racism, genocide, and the belief in things which never happened. There are also some really nice things in there, and some amazing writing, but overall, it's ruined by the sick and twisted justification for violence and oppression.

It's not the book people find offensive. It's the interpretations of the book that many don't care for.
