Literally, one step up at a time. I used to be deathly scared of heights when I was a child. To conquer your fear I suggest climbing up a ladder and progressively jumping off from one rung up at a time on to a soft surface like sand, a mattress or into a pool. It may take days to make it to the last rung, but every inch is a mile.

Do a charity bungee jump or parachute jump. The gutted feeling you might get in letting down a charity should outweigh your height fears. It's worked for two people I know.

Set yourself small goals. Don't try to achieve too much too soon!! Gentle exposure to your phobia is the best way!! But remember, anxiety wont kill you, so face your fear head on, but just a little bit at a time!! This works for most phobias.
Good luck!!

For me, I participated in height related sports like wall climbing, repelling, flying fox etc.

Still fearful, but I have learned to work around it.

I can sympathize with you because I too have acrophobia. Psychologists have used conditioning with in office situations simulating heights. This is said to be effective, but I don't know where it is being done now.

You could have hypnosis. They can cure fears like that now. Look it up on the internet. Don't know how much it costs though. Depends how severe it is.
