at the wedding service itself the vicar wiil go throw everything with you at the rehersal . at the reception just keep it short and sweet just thank everybody for coming and sharing a special day with you , welcome her new husband into the family , complement the bridesmaids on how nice thay look and of course the bride aswell , then at the end ask everybody to raise there glass and toast the bride and groom . the best man will do the rest , good luck and enjoy the day.

say how much it means to u to be giving her away on her special day. if u have been like a father to her perhaps say the happiness you have had in watching her grow up and how she has felt like a daughter to you and that u feel every bit as proud as though you are her father giving her away. ( dont make it all about her not having her father there tho) any gud?

or go for the funny approach.

no refunds, no returns, no deposit required, good for 30 days or 3 miles which ever comes first.

then after the wedding, move to an undisclosed 3rd world country with no forwarding address.

Well I would like to try and help you out, at my wedding, my father couldn't make it, so my cousin, who is in the Marines, gave me away, and it turned out beautifully. We walked down the aisle and when he gave me away, the pastor asked, "Who gives this woman to be married to this man?" And my cousin said, "Her family and I" The wedding day went so smoothly and beautifully

You should first ask her if she has any requests about what you should say. She might want you to say something specific, or she might just want you to walk her down the aisle and is not going to have the officiant ask you about who gives her away.

The officiant will tell you what to say at the ceremony. You don't have to say anything at the reception, my dad didn't.
