Bialetti

simple, well made, and a classic that has survived all the fancy fashions.

Various sizes available, and either use on the hob or integrated heater; and much cheaper than some wizzer gadget device. Nothing really to go wrong, and spare parts are available.

Spend the money you save on good beans if you want really good coffee. (beans are probably cheaper than pods anyway, and less waste; caffinated coffee grounds are good slug deterent)

grinding your own coffee too will make a big improvement in taste. and choose own blend, roast and provenance of the beans. especially since I wnat organic fair trade these are not avaiable from the big market dominating brands where cost/profit for shareholders is the main concern.
Make friends with your local roaster/trader and she/he will provide small trial selections 'til you find the ones to your taste; much more enjoyable than getting a box with a pretty picture on it from a supermarket.
