When the bible says that God will smite you or that God smote someone what it means is that God has punished them. Sometimes this takes the form of a plague or disease, a famine, a drought or by losing ones fortune and family. If you believe in a vengeful God then I would assume you would know that being smote by God would be very unpleasant. I personally don't believe God punishes us, for a number of reasons, but if you do then I suppose you should refrain from doing things you think would incur God's wrath. Good luck and blessings, Prana

You wake up every day at 5:14 to realize that you are 28 y.o. and despite having a Masters degree you have a terrible job which you have to drive 45 miles to get to and is over an hour away with traffic (both ways 90 miles, 2 1/2 hours with traffice). Once you get there you are greeted by horrific working conditions matched with a subtle yet omnipresent toxic work environment that you spend evading by trying not to interact and act busy. However, when you get off you are rewarded with even more traffic and a chance to go to bed at 7:PM just so you wont be as tired the next day as you were today ....
That is what happens when God smites you!

The Bible says there will be a day of Judgement. every thought word and deed will be brought to Justice. There will be no sin forgotten by God. The Ten Commandments will be God's standard of righteousness so lets look at a few to see how you do.
Have you ever told a lie? (white lies count)
Have you ever stolen something. evene if it was small?
Have you ever looked at a woman and thought lewd sexual thoughts?
Have you ever used Gods name in vain? (ever cursed and used Gods name?)
If God Judges you on Judgement day by this standard will you be innocent or guilty? The BIble says if you have broken even one of the commandments your guilty of breaking them all, so in reality we would all be guilty. The terrible news is that If you stand before God and he Judges you according to your sins you could end up smitten for an eternity in Hell. But here's the good news. God hasnt given you the ultimate smitting, He has made a way for you to be forgiven and escape Punishment in Hell. Jesus christ suffered and died on the cross to take the punishment you deserve. Today, if you will repent (turn from sin) and put your faith and trust in Jesus as your Lord and savior, God will forgive you and he will grant you everlasting pardon and eternal life in heaven. God loves you so much that he dosent want to just smite you for an eternity and froget about you. He cared for you so much that he suffered and died that you might be eternally forgiven. God bless

God's smiting is a figure of speech.
You are punished in a way for something you did wrong in the past. It may be either you hurt your head hitting on the door, a disease you are subject to, a person who realy makes your life god bad.
At these cases you should not get angry, swear out. You should think about what you did wrong.. may be you cannot remember. than pray at God to forgive you for that thing.
It is good for a person if he can find out what he did wrong and try to overcome it.

God "smites" people by basically doing away with them. This is an old testament practice, and hasnt been done in a while. Don't worry about it, be follow His word. He may not "smite" you, per se, but he can condemn you. Email me if you have any questions.

LOL. I believe "smitten" is what you feel when you look at your wife and "smote" is what you feel when god reams your @ss.
For a thorough description of smiting, see either the Book of Job, or Robert A. Heinlein's "Job: A Comedy of Justice."

It really smarts! Get some ointment or something.
Seriously...use aloe vera.
No, really...Talc is good.
Okay, now I'm serious. Hebrews chapter 12 states that God chastens those whom he calls sons, which is backed up by Proverbs and several other passages. So when we suffer, Christians see it as something to help us become more like Christ...this is a correctional tool, used to chisel character into our lives.
But when unbelievers suffer, they should see it as a foreshadowing of a worse judgment that comes for them. Therefore, Christians suffer in order for God to produce character in their lives, while unbelievers suffer as a warning sign of future ultimate judgment.
Read 1 Peter 4:12-19 to see this idea...
and don't forget the ointment!

[13] Behold this is the Word that distinguishes (Good from Evil):
[14] It is not a thing for amusement.
[15] As for them, they are but plotting a scheme,
[16] And I am planning a scheme.
[17] Therefore grant a delay to the Unbelievers: give respite to them gently (for a while).
The noble Quran, Chapter 86.

I'd advise against getting smoted, its uncomfortable and leaves an unpleasant odor lingering around. It makes it really hard to hit on girls if you smell like smite.
