Call your local Division of Human Rights, file a claim, collect lots of money and quit.

Did he stick in nose into your head to smell it? Or when he was reaching for something, did he just smell it? I really don't think it's sexual harrassment. You'd pat your dog on the head. Just tell him that you sunburned your scalp or something so he won't do it again. It might jsut be a one time thing. Don't think anything else about it unless he does it again. Could you imagine how the poor guy would feel if he fired for patting your head. That would be wrong. I'm a girl and it wouldn't bother me.
It's reponses like that one from Law Lady make me mad. If everyone went around and wanted to sue for small things like this, this country would be bankrupt.

Chill out...take a breath...you are overreacting. Stop being so stuck on yourself that you have to examine every little thing someone does and think they have some greater meaning.
Big ******* deal, why don't you cry about it?
And I totally agree with pamela...for the most part the rest of the answers were just as blown out of proportions as the question.

Maybe he didn't mean to smell your hair. It might have been that your hair was just really fragrant and he smelt it from a ways away. Some men that are older would have patted their daughters on their heads. He probably didn't mean anything by either one of these situations.

This guy wants you badly, he has deep desires for you. He likes you a lot. Be careful not to give him the wrong impression, let him know exactly how you feel. He could be just after sex and sex only. If you are bothered and if he continues to annoy you and in case he crosses the boundaries of respect warn him kindly to keep his hands to himself or else you will report him on charges of sexual harassment. My advice to you is don't get involved with anyone at your workplace.

Tough question. Anita Hill had the same problem with Clarence Thomas a few years ago. However, if Clarence Thomas had looked like Denzel Washington, he would have ended up up to his ears in Anita thighs. It is sexual harassment if the person is ugly and foreplay if they are good looking. Life is never fair.

I used to work with this guy. I had a similar situation at work, a co-worker came to my desk after working there about a week and asked what shampoo I used since my hair smelled so good. I thought he was a nut and he is a bit bonkers, but he was harmless. We used to tease him about his fascination with Pantene and it ended. Maybe in your case, he just really likes hair. I wouldn't be offended unless he comes at you with a scissors to take a "trophy", then drop kick him!

Next time he makes physical contact (patting your head or whatever) just immediately say (interrupt him if necessary) "please don't touch me" That will send the signal loud and clear, and minimize any future potentially very uncomfortable situations... such as maybe he wants to hug you.... etc.
DON'T JUST ASSUME that it's sexual harrassment.... give him the opportunity to back off first, then if he doesn't stop.. then report him to Human Resources or your manager.

I never let people touch my hair, just say hands of the hair. As far as him saying your hair smells good, you can usually smell a girls hair from far so it's not weird for him to say it smells good , but he should not touch you in any way

Slap hard on the hand that touches your hair and give him a real stern look. Cut him with your cold stare and see how he reacts to that.
