My son is a Marine. He is from a town of 250 population. He speaks three languages and in motor transport he has achieved 100% running for his base. He hates country music. I guess you need to define hick for me. I don't think they can exist with all the information available on the web and at the library. Ignorance isn't confined to the hills.

It is true that the majority of enlisted personnel come from small towns rather than urban areas. That doesn't make them rednecks, hicks, or hillbillies. that picture of the guy with the beard was taken out of context by you. Special forces in Iraq and Afghanistan have been growing out their beards to fit in more with the local populations to make the civilians more comfortable around them
