Where did you go to school for cosmetology? What did/didn't you like about where you went? What do you think the most important thing is when learning this trade?

The reason I ask -- is because I am currently in school for cosmetology. I attend the Ohio Academy - which is a Paul Mitchell Partner School. I LOVE IT! But the school is far away from where I live... and I was just wondering how important where you went to school really is? Am I more likely to get a job if I attended a "Paul Mitchell" school vs. any other as long as I pass State Board?? Do you think that having the Paul Mitchell name will help me to make more money, or do you think that my skills will decide that?

Do you think that only knowing one product line is beneficial or more of an inadequecy when hiring?

Please give me some advice! I need a mentor :) Thanks!

Your in school to obtain the required hours for your licensing and also to learn the techniques to pass your local state board exam, that's it. I don't think it matters where you go as long as they are accredited through the state. Oh and trust me Sweetie Paul Mitchell's name is NOT going to help you get a job-YOUR SKILLS WILL! I also believe that diversity is the key to staying on top. Learn various products the more that you know, the more you can do. So my advice to you is simply this, don't get caught up in the names that are already out here, make a name for yourself.

That's real!

No I don't think you going to Paul Mitchel school will get you a better job. I think if you worked for him you could. I went to Ohio State. The real learning is when you go to work. And extend your education.
