My Mom's 60th birthday is next week and I can't think of anything really special to give her. Do anyone have any ideas? My husband suggested a Karaoke Machine with some music from the "60's". Bad or Good idea?

I need to add some info: My mom is turning 60, but she not a grandma, she owns a modelling agency and she is very aware of her looks. She can afford a day at the spa and has done so before. I am looking to get her something from me. I do not get along with my bro and sis, this will be just a gift from me. Something that is appropriate to give a very strong woman on her bday!

Well, if your Mom likes to sing 60's music, sure, it is a grand idea.

I am thinking more of a whole spa day, with a beautiful dinner after with those whom Mom loves the most.

Or a weekend retreat, with just the two of you, hanging out and talking.

Anything you do for your Mother is appreciated, no matter how big or small. It is the heart with which you did something that matters to Mom.

Well it may not be a bad idea. How about something personal, like making a scapbook with pictures and memories, do you have siblings that could help? Otherwise I would say take her to a concert or a show she would like and dinner afterward, or a day spa or massage.

Personally, I would prefer an IPod or a nice Bose with some music, but that's me. (I'm just a few years younger than your Mom). A gift certificate for a day at a spa would be nice too.

Spend time with her doing something she likes to do. Take her to a museum or garden, or whatever hobby she has. Have a spa day together-manicures, pedicures, facials, etc. Got to lunch and a matinee together, or get ther tickets to a concert of a group she likes, and take her to dinner first.

Granny is right.
When my mama turned 60, I only kissed her, hugged and whispered how much I love her for bringing me up. Other material gifts can be given any time as a surprised "better late than never" approach.

How about a day at the spa for the 2 of you. That is something she would cherish always.

That's a great idea if she enjoys singing. If she doesn't, or if she's technically challenged that might not be so good though. (My mom wouldn't know how to operate one even if I showed her)

If you have siblings, what about a family portrait complete with a large, framed and matted version?

Send her out for a BIG day of pamoering if she never does it for herself. How about a get away? Special photo albums of pictures she dosent have, think about what it is that she really wishes for and never does for herself.
