Why is Judaism such a powerful political force?

It's estimated that there are 13 million jews in the world. By contrast there are 2.129 Billion christians, 1.476 Billion Muslims, 1.162 Billion Atheists/Non religious. Even Buddhists have 708 million (Though they claim 1.6 Billion.)
For such a small amount of followers (though you could say Jews are more of a race than a religion), how is it that they play such a major role in world politics?
Is it because Christianity and Islam have their roots in Judaism?
Is it because they tend to live in very close nit communities?
Is it a religion, a race, or a political movement? All three?

I am a Jew and I think I would like to clear up the misconception of Jews as a race.

There is no such thing as a Jewish race. We are the Jewish people with Judaism as our religion. We are the Jewish nation with Israel as our homeland. Zionism is the movement for a Jewish homeland for the Jewish people who had been exile and now finally have returned to their original, historic homeland.

The Jewish people includes people of all races. Anyone can become Jewish by converting to Judaism.

Why are we a political force? I really don't know, but the Jews have survived all forms of persecution including the Holocaust. I think the Jewish people always try to organize themselves to fight for their rights and also to help others. It's true that we are the people of the book and we think learning and education is important.

With the help of G-d, we will continue to survive in Israel and the diaspora.
