Casey, I belong to a rather esoteric branch of Freemasonry called "American Co-Masonry." We come not from the English United Grand Lodge, but the French Grand Lodge Symbolique. Most Freemasons writing here will deny we are real Freemasons because we admit women as well as men to full rights and privileges of the Craft.
What we are looking for in a potential candidate is a person who
1. Is an upright and law-abiding character
2. who tries their best to do the right thing
3. who believes in a Supreme Being
4. who wishes to make themselves better
5. who wishes to make the world better
6. who is tolerant of persons of all races, genders, and religions
What we are about is alchemical transformation of lead into gold in a very symbolic sense: making the lead in your heart into something fine and refined. Does that make sense? We are (or claim to be) the heirs of the ancient mystery schools. We are not a religion. We make no claim to know what happens after you die. Rather, we try our best to figure out how best to live within the Golden Rule: do unto others as you would have them do unto you.
We are more than a fraternaty, at least in my Order. Change comes slowly. You must be at least 21 years old to join. It may take years to reach some degrees and you may never get to some at all. It does depend upon your willingness to study.
If you are still interested in this Path, you may contact me or click on the link below. Alternatively, you may contact any of the "masculine rite" Freemason Lodges around. They are fine people with a slightly different take on things.
You have to ask to become one of any Lodge. You will be interviewed. Be honest. Ask your questions. Answer theirs. The Lodge will vote upon what they know about you. Best of luck.

To join you need to find a Freemason and state your interest, they can be recognized by the ring they wear. As to their secrets, I have no idea, I do know that they strive to be better people and that belief in a Higher Power is essential to joining. These days as I understand it, they are more of a networking group than anything else.

They have BB-Q's, play cards, raise money for charities, and every once in awhile they get together to perform esoteric rituals confirming their heritage of being Christian, but separate from the Catholic Church. There isn't really any "great secret". Rather, there are remnants of the paranoid secrecy that was necessary when the Catholic Church was very oppressive.

lukman is way off about Paul. And you can't find out by watching a movie either. I know they masquerade as a benevolent group but are more humanist than holy.

Saul of Tarsus (Paul) was one of them. They work in secret to prepare for the anti Christ coming who is going to declare him self as God. Paul deviated Christianity from following the servant prophet Jesus son of Mary, to Jesus son of God, so people will be ready for worshipping the anti Christ or the beast. Don’t join them as they will go to hell. BTW they don't accept women, it is restricted to men.
