Why do people not believe in magic and astrology?

Because that's just foolish. Now if you want to talk about people wandering in a desert for 40 years, a talking bush on fire, the whole world flooding while saving two of every animal on one boat, or creating a person from another persons rib - then that would at least make sense.

The recent advances in science are probably the root cause for disbelief in magic and astrology. The scientific method demands a verifiable experiment to prove the existence of a hypothesis, such as magic or astrology. As those mystic arts fail these experiments miserably, science dictates that they are not true and dismisses them as pure fantasy.

Isaiah 8:19 "And when they shall say unto you, Seek unto them that have familiar spirits, and unto wizards that peep, and that mutter: should not a people seek unto their God? for the living to the dead?" The Bible warns of us to avoid such and remember what happened to King Saul - went to someone who practices such and God warned him not to and he did and he ended up committing suicide. Follow the Bible only - God will lead you he knows the future better than anyone and he will guide you if you follow him.

Its there, but the Bible specifically warns us about it, and to turn away from it, satan uses this deceit, and tactics to fool and trick us, The dead are asleep until the mesiah returns, they cannot come back and be seen, satan uses this to fool many, God wants us to stay away from that sort of thing.
