That's one of those catch phrases that people need a whole lot of context to understand. On the surface it sounds like a believer just forgets about whatever matter they are "letting go" of and in some instances, like when it comes to forgiveness, that's a Biblical practice.
But the Bible doesn't usually tell us that we are to sit around and do nothing while we wait on the Lord. Even in the matter of forgiveness we have to cast our cares upon the Lord in prayer. When we "let go and let God" we do those things that we are able to do and trust that He will do those things that we cannot do.
For instance, if we have a concern for an unsaved relative, we can still be a part of their life and model the love of Christ for them while we pray for the Lord to open their heart and remove the blinders from their eyes so that the glorious light of the gospel might shine. Then we have to trust that God will do the actual work of salvation, realizing that it may be years before He determines to bring that work to pass.

It means to give up control and let God have it. We try to plan everything and control our environment. But the fallicy of that is that we do not have control. How many times have plans you made gone awry? The fact is we make plans for our future within preset/predefined parameters, but the problem is is that we don't know what the future holds that will alter those plans. God does know the future, and if we will trust Him, He will get us through everything life will throw at us. When a problem arises, our first instinct is to try to solve it ourselves. Now don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that we should sit and do nothing, but our first action should be to ask our Heavenly Father to take the problem and work it out in the way He sees fit. The bible says "All things work together for good to those who love the Lord". In other words, if we trust God, then even the worst situation you are in, God will turn it around and work it out to become a good thing in your life. It's hard to let go of control, I struggle with it all the time.

Give your troubles to God and have 100% absolute faith that he will take care of the situation, because He will. Whatever Satan works in, God can work out. Also,( this is another thing I do) I write on small pieces of paper things that I need or want(e.g. letting go some things) and stick them in my Bible and forget about it, after some time I go back and look at all the things God has given me. And when the situations are solved and completed I toss the paper. It really works. God Bless & Good Luck!

By putting all of ones faith and trust in God, Yeah, I know it sound alot easier than done.. Let go, Let God is a term used alot in 12 step programs.. These people have usually made a good mess of their lifes running amock making awful life decissions, myself included.. For people with a God in their lif allreafdy this becomes a bit easier, for thoes without God, well they have some work in front of them.. Faith and trust are tough alone never mind giving it to some one or somthing you can't see.. This is blind faith.. When we learn to accept life on lifes terms the journey begins and it becomes a bit easier to have faith and trust.. We can begin to see purpose in life and start to see miricals happen, this opens the door to Christ or a higher power.. Then from there anything is possiable.. There is much more to it, and to really understand you should try living through it... You don't need to have a catorsrtophic life to enjoy a God or religion..

well, there is this old story...
Small town, and the rain starts pouring...soon the town begins to flood. People are exiting, and the water is beginning to rise.
This god fearing gentleman climbs on the roof of his house, as the flood waters over take the second floor. He says, "god, deliver me..." and the waters continue to rise.
As the waters reach his waist, a small tree floats by. He could easily climb onto it, but instead says, "god, will deliver me..."
As the water reaches his chest, a couple of guys in a rowboat are near the man, they tell him to get into the boat. He tells them, he will be okay, because god will deliver him.
As the water, reaches his chin, a helicopter drops a rope to him, and he refuses to grab the handle, knowing that god will deliver him.
He dies...
Soon enough, he is at the pearly gates, and walks up to god and says... "what happened, I kept faith, I let go, knowing you would deliver me... where were you? "
God turns to him and says, "what the hell do you think the tree, the boat, and the helicopter were for?"

It's a simple process, that takes major will power. This slogan is a biggy at AA and many self help groups. You need to pray, and you need to let go of your anger, your hatred, and anything getting you down and turn over your will, and your life to God. The tricky part, is so many people say they have let go...but they are really holding on with dear life.

oh soooo hard. well you have to really realize that you yourself are not capable of carring the weight of what ever it is you are wanting to let go of, and then know and TRUST and have FAITH that nothing is bigger than the Father above. He doesnt promise to have a perfect life here on earth but he does promise to help us through the storms.
Letting go and letting God is very hard to do. i want to share this with you if you are not afraid to read alot i promise it is worth the time..
LET GO AND LET GOD
as children bring their broken toys with tears for us to mend,
i brought my broken dreams to God because he was my friend.
but instead of leaving him in peace to work alone
i hung around and tried to help with ways that were my own
at last i snatched them back and cried how can you be so slow
my child he replied what could i do you never did let go.
hope this helps. Good luck. thought it is hard it is a great reward when we learn to let go.

Let go is to tell God about your problem and then stop worrying about it. It just like trust yoiur friend to buy something for you. If you trust him (have faith in him) you would not worry that he would forget. But if you do not trust you friend (have no faith in him) then most likely you would be worried that he might not do it for forgotten about it.
God cannot help you if you insist to help youself. God help the helpless. So put your trust in Him.
