Pigs were associated with disease ( namely e-coli ) but at the time, all disease was thought to be punishment for sin.

Jews DO eat pork, as long as it has been approved and deemed safe by a Rabbi ("kosher"). They're smart people. Take a look at the number of Jewish Nobel Prize winners: more than 150.
Compare that to the number of Muslim Nobel Prize winners: 7, and none of them from Medicine or Physiology.
Welcome to the 21st century! Hopefully some religions can catch up with science. The world is not laid out like a carpet, nor is it egg shaped. The stars are not lamps in the "lowest heaven" which guard against evil spirits, and the sun does not set in a mud puddle.

It is forbidden in Islam's holy book, The Koran.

Most religious traditions have practical origins. In medeival times, pork (and other meats) harbored parasites and meat was commonly undercooked. By eating undercooked pork, you can become very sick, as many did back then. Medicine was not modern enough yet to determine the specific cause of the sickness, but people were smart enough to realize that the sickness was due to the meat.

Using religious authority was the only way officials could prevent common folk from eating pork. So not eating pigs sort of 'became' a religious law, in effect.

(Catholics traditionally eat fish on Fridays for entirely different reasons.)

I have heard that DNA from pigs was used in the development of humans or vise versa, and because of that certain religions look at that as being taboo. By the way the gods are technologically advanced alien races. They had the ablity to alter DNA way before adam/males and eve/females where genetically altered. The pig thing is either another controlling facet of the false gods or a misunderstanding of the followers of a particular false god. I love bacon, their loss.

They are forbidden to eat the flesh of pigs in the Holy Qur'an. The Holy Qur'an is the word of God directly spoken to all muslims. They are also forbidden anything containing blood, such as Blutwurst (Pig's Pudding). That is why they slaughter animals in the way known as "halal" (pure) to remove the blood from the meat. It is also a very humane way of killing animals for food.

muslims (and jews as well) are not allowed to eat pig: It dates way back. Pigs were more difficult to keep than sheep, sanitary conditions more difficult to maintain (which would no longer be the case today with all our modern techniques) and therefore dietary laws were developped. Second, Muslims, are supposed to be the most clean persons on earth, i.e. wash five time a day...so how could they be near such a dirty filthy animal...

Forth, as I learned lately, Jews are forbidden to eat it to.

Fifth, you eat it or you do not eat fish, or Hindus do not eat any type of meat...what is the big issue here?

pigs are unclean because they eat S H I T!.if you know biology you will know that there is a type of worm called the taenia present in the digestive system of humans-inactive and passes out by egestion.pigs will eat the s h i t and the worm will be present in the pigs especially in its muscles.when this worm is ingested in the human digestive system by eating pork especially a lot it can cause diahrea and cholera and other health problems in the digestive system.
this worm can only be removed by very high tempratures when boiling and sometimes is not removed so it is prohibited in islam as a form of prevenciency and health safety.
