because cat food is sold to humans who would go "ick". I'm not buying Fluffy this! Even if Fluffy might like it. I have no idea if Lucy C. Tabby (current cat in residence) has even tasted a mouse. I know she likes spiders. I never expect to see "Spider Treat cat food" at PetSmart.
To sell a cat food as "complete and balanced for all stages of a cats life" a manufacturer has to make sure that it contaiins certain nutriants and vitamins. Chicken and fish are already familiar things. I have no idea what they would have to do to mouse meat to make sure that kitty is getting all the nutriants she needs. It's just not worth it.

There isn't a mouse flavored cat-food because it isn't easy to make food taste like mice, and it isn't safe to catch a mouse and put it into food. The mouse could be carrying a disease. I don't think anyone wants there cat to get sick. But I am just guessing.

you would possibly want to purchase 'mouse' flavored cat nutrients. Mice flavor the same as fowl, so that they placed fowl into the cat nutrients, and the cats imagine they're eating 'mouse flavored cat nutrients.' How do i understand this? I had a chum who became stranded in a cave for the time of a flood for 3 months, and he had to devour the small lizards and mice that he stuck ... i understand, that's extraordinary, yet authentic.

mice not only taste bad, they smell bad, too. one of my kitties caught a mouse one time and after separating the two of them i noticed my kitty's mouth was dirty and emitted a foul odor. obviously, i took her inside and washed her mouth out because i certainly didn't want kisses with mouse-flavor. domestic cats generally go after a mouse because it's part of their instinct, to hunt and kill prey. they also like to toss it around and play with it. (which is why toy mice are sold) i think they prefer a fresh, tasty fish instead. wild cats are the ones that might actually enjoy the taste of a mouse and they don't need mice-flavored pellets since they can get the real thing.

Are you going to bite a mouse to find out what it tastes like?

another thing is...when was the last time you saw your little kitty take down a cow? mice are size appropriate, fun to catch, and even more fun to chase...put them into cat food and the only thing you're left with is size appropriate...but at that point...so is the cow...

That's a good question! I guess for the same reason they don't make bacon-flavored pencils- what's the point of it? lol

Cats don't catch and eat mice because they like they taste, they do it because they like the chase. They prefer real meat just like us, chicken, lamb, tuna, salmon and so-on.
