Is it really that frightening and scary that they have to have an explaination for everything their kids do?

They're new parents. Give them a break. It takes awhile to get into a good "parent" rhythm. Trust me. I'm a fairly new parent myself, and it took me almost a year before I just gave up and started letting my son do what he's going to do. It's frightening at first, especially when you don't have much, if any, experience with a baby. We're just being over protective and trying to find our place in the world of parenting.

it's being a caring parent. you may think it's better to not be so involved, but those are the kids hooked on meth, the ones who steal, who beat up/shoot other kids, etc. Setting boundaries and being an observant parent are visible proof of a parent's love.

Heaven's yes!! This is a life we are speaking about, what you do now molds this person into what eventually become! Children do not come with a set of instructions and each child is different even though they may come from the same gene pool!!

Because they are new to parenting. They probably don't know a lot about taking care of kids.

Because those kids are a part of them and they are concerned. It is normal to want to understand your children. Parents are responsible for their children physically, emotionally, spiritually and mentally, it's a tough job.

Well, until their "kid" is old enough to be able to use the proper form of their in a sentence and spell explanation correctly, I think it's very wise of your parents to keep tight reins on you.

Because like you said they are NEW parents, meaning they have never done it before, therefore they haven't experienced any of it. All new parents have to go by is advice and stuff they read.

It's a safety mechanism - One of a parent's fundamental roles is to act as a child's rational machine.

It's called parenting. It's called caring. It's called being responsible. It's called love.
