IS it true you are not allowed to study the bible by yourself, but only material that the watch tower gives you? Did you know your first president of the watch tower lied many time under oath? How much of your history on the Jehovah Witnesses do you really know?

Great question. They really hate the truth. They only want you to hear them..they won't listen. I love it when they come to my door and want to talk. I always tell them I'd love to hear everything they say...but they must watch this video I have..it's produced by X-Jw's. They never seem to want to watch..I've even offered pop-corn

I have been one of Jehovah's Witnesses for ten years.I thank Jehovah every day for allowing me this wonderful privilege.I used to be a catholic.Being part of Christendom I was taught man made doctrines and pagan beliefs that had been fused into apostate Christianity.
Having the truth is the best gift anyone could hope for.
I would suggest to you instead of stirring up falsehoods and lies about the Society, why don't you do yourself a favour and take up the offer of a free home bible study with Jehovah's people. You may be pleasantly surprised.
By the way,of course you can study the bible by yourself. We are encouraged to read the bible every day.
As far as the Society's history,we have a marvellous publication that details every aspect of the organisation from its humble beginnings with Br.Russell's search for truth
This organisation has the truth of Gods Word and it also has God's backing.Jesus warned that his disciples would be hated so it comes as no surprise to us.Its just another confirmation that this is the truth

I am a Jehovah's Witness, personal bible study is encouraged and essential to our faith. No the he did not lie under oath. Jehovah's Witnesses know their own history better than anyone else, it's a part of being one of Jehovah's Witnesses, it's not something that you just jump into with out knowing the whole scope of the organization past and present. At some convention halls and other facilities we have exhibits and displays that chronologically show events and happenings in the organization. Also we have members of our congregations that remember events or knew many of the earlier witnesses personally. or go straight to the source when a j.w. comes to your door ask them and they will be happy to answer you! the offical website is www.watchtower.org <--- you can email questions here too!

Jehovah's Witnesses are actively encouraged to spend time in personal study, and particularly in simple bible reading and meditation.

Yet this question seems to be mostly intended to slander and insult the Jehovah's Witness religion. Interestingly, such "hatred" should be expected by true Christians in this time of the end, and it actually helps identify Jehovah's Witnesses as Christ's true disciples:

(John 15:19) If you were part of the world, the world would be fond of what is its own. Now because you are no part of the world, but I have chosen you out of the world, on this account the world hates you.

(Luke 6:22) Happy are you whenever men hate you, and whenever they exclude you and reproach you and cast out your name as wicked for the sake of the Son of man.

(1 Peter 4:4) Because you do not continue running with them in this course to the same low sink of debauchery, they are puzzled and go on speaking abusively of you.

(2 Timothy 4:3-5) For there will be a period of time when they will not put up with the healthful teaching, but, in accord with their own desires, they will accumulate teachers for themselves to have their ears tickled; and they will turn their ears away from the truth, whereas they will be turned aside to false stories. You, though, keep your senses in all things, suffer evil, do the work of an evangelizer, fully accomplish your ministry.

It seems signficant that the relatively small religion of Jehovah's Witnesses are the ones best known for their worldwide preaching work. Yet Jesus commanded that ALL who would call themselves "Christian" perform this public work:

(Matthew 28:19,20) Go therefore and make disciples of people of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the holy spirit, teaching them to observe all the things I have commanded you. And, look! I am with you all the days until the conclusion of the system of things.

You are allowed to study the Bible by yourself in fact we are encouraged to read the Bible daily. Lied about what, what are you talking about? Do you have proof he lied or are you going off of an apostate website or book? I know a lot about our history much of it is very interesting. The Watchtower is a study aid, just like all of our other books. The Watchtower directs us to the Bible in everything it says its not like it's just making up some random stuff and saying it's in the Bible with no proof.

No they are allowed to study by themselves.
I don't know about lying, but I know that he was put in jail and then I think later exonorated(sp?).
Umm I don't know their history like I know history in general, but I do know that they have a book about their history that they are required to know before they are baptised.
