I often hear people talking about that they envy someone. The motifs are different: good car, big appartment, straight A-student, happy love life, great body....

I don't have high self-confidence, but still this feeling of jealousy is quite unfamiliar to me. I have been jealous only once, and that's 15 years ago, when my brother was born ( honestly, I don't even remember very well)

Have you ever been jealous and why?

I think Jealousy is a term better fit for an "immature" mind so to speak. A child might become jealous of another due to a toy or a vacation that they were not able to go on but the other kid boasts about. As an adult one is able to tell the difference between the value that is associated with an object and the meaning of the object in the persons life. I "envy" my brother-in-law because of his big boy toys (four wheelers, fancy expensive stereo...) but he works 3 jobs and never has any time to enjoy them. I have a much simpler stereo but I can watch a movie with my family and enjoy it. So am I jealous of him? yes. but I am still in a better place.

Jealousy consumed me as I grew from a teenager to and adult. It was often and usually not helpful. However, there is some good which can come from it if you busy yourself in improving your own skills.

The danger of jealousy is it can combine with other flaws, and cause you to stress too much. Let go of the jealousy and focus on your own path, while noting the lessons learned by others. Instead of being angry or jealous or envious, be glad that you can learn from others instead of letting the jealousy eat you from the inside.

I don't think I feel jealousy either. I believe that people are all different in that respect and some are just more competitive and jealous than others. Also, jealousy probably is caused by discontent in your own life; when I see someone that has more than me I am not jealous because I like my life and most of the time I like myself too. You are lucky (like I am) not to be the "jealous type". Men seem be more that way than women, I think, which leads me to believe that it is part of their competitive nature. If you have that trait I think you need to fight it and count your blessings instead of wishing for someone elses!

I hate to admit it, but I've been jealous any number of times.

I've been jealous of guys who were dating the girls I would have liked to have dated. I've been jealous of kids who were smarter than me--and I knew several of those.

I've pretty much outgrown being jealous. I recognize that jealousy is a not terribly intelligent, sinful, and a sign of immaturity. But I'm honest enough to admit that it's happened in my life.

I get jealous of other girls with perfect bodies.. (even though mine isn't too bad) i sat and listened to my boyfriend point them out and why they were so beautiful.. .(and it always had something to do with a bad feature of mine..) so I became overly self conscience and now I hate my body
