we call it station pit jump here.
We had to pratice to jump with hieght first, using your toes. jumping in one spot. we are also told to use the follow up technique. ie. feel the second jump from your first.

After that you can practice to propel forwar. with both techniques you will learn to jump further

Good Luck

Sorry I don't do standing broad jumps. I like playing basketball instead and that requires a fair amount of jumping for rebounding, jump shots, layups and other unexpected moves.
One exercise I've been taught to help with jumping is calves flexing. This is done by typically standing tippy toe on any edge and then stand up with your toes. You'll start feeling something in your calves. Come back down and repeat.
Another exercise you can try is toning your thighs by holding yourself in a sitting position while your back is against a wall. You start out standing with your back against the wall. Then you slide down slowly until you are in a sitting position. Your knees should be bent about 90 degrees. Next you hold it for a while. You'll start feeling something in your thighs. After some time, slowly come back up, rest a bit and then repeat.
Anyway, these are just exercises to get your muscles ready. As user 'limey_not_lime' said, you still need to practice.

Good luck!
