We all want to punch our PC at some point in our life. Whether it's because you spend 3 hours writing an essay, and it got deleted for no reason. Or maybe an error message won't go away. Explain why you hate (or maybe like) "Windows".

ya i agree with you because i was doing this big project on my computer when i needed to look something up for it on the internet. so just incase it would "break down" i tried to save it but while moving my cursor up to the save button it freezes completely for like 20min and then finnaly i came back to the computer and it said that it had an "unknown error" (if u ask me i think its known but its something stupid, so they just say that it is unknown) and it deletes the whole freaken project HORRAY that was a lot of help

maybe we should all get apple computers

I like Windows and have never had a problem with it myself. (see below)
I keep backups and follow safe computing.
I repair computers and 99.9% of the problems I see are OPERATOR ERROR. The other .1% is hardware failure. (new or old)

Sure some people like Mac's but as more and more people use them there will be more and more Malware written for them. There are some viruses starting to show up now. The only reason they have been relitively virus free is NOT because it's a better system, it's because there are so few of them it's not worth the Hackers time.

I use all of the following Free software with Windows XP SP2 and Internet Explorer with MSN toolbar and the pop-up blocker turned on and have never had a single problem with my computer sense Microsoft came out with SP2. (knock on wood.) (And be sure to keep Windows and the following software Updated)

The best Anti-virus is: AVG Anti-Virus Free Edition. (www.grisoft.com)
The Best Spyware defense is: SpyBot Search and Destroy (www.spybot.info)
AND: AdAware SE (www.lavasoft.com)
AND Spyware Blaster (http://www.javacoolsoftware.info/kb/)
The best Firewall besides the one that comes with Windows is: Zone Alarm (http://www.zonelabs.com/store/content/co... or just (www.zonelabs.com) and select the FREE version.

These are all FREE and are all that are required. There is no reason to pay for this kind of software, except to give a donation to the writers if you can.
ALL the above programs are recommended and should be run on a regular basis. With some the free versions they must be run manually.

The best way to avoid getting any Malware (virus, Trojan's, spyware, etc) is to practice safe computing. Microsoft and many others have countless articles on the subject of safe computing. (something I think should be taught in schools)

Windows is just a user friendly platform for the people out there who need a nice GUI interface to run their programs.

When your files get deleted or when something like your example happens, its not Windows thats doing that. Its your computer or system thats doing that.

How can a program that the user controls make your essay delete for no reason? When your computer shuts down or when something happens, its not Windows thats trying to annoy you or torture you, its the system and the user. Most likely, its the user who screwed up since the computer does what WE want them to do.

I never blame the OS for computer problems. I blame the computer for having a screwed up chip or for messing up...but a computer is built to work for humans....if something is messed up with them...its either a virus or something external that they had no control over. We are responsible for our computers and how they work....not Windows.

Don't get me started. I only have windows on one computer just so I can run certain software. My DOS computer requires less memory, brings up programs and files faster and can't get a virus. Windows is just something that caught on like the frisbee. It was just a way to make Bill Gates a bazillionare.

I hate windows because of every single error and every single time i had to restart my computer since something went wrong. Getting applications to work properly is a lot of pain.Thats why i have a mac.
