Drink plenty of fluids, including pedialyte and gatorade. These will help return the electrolytes you lose with diarrhea. It is not as important to eat as it is to drink with diarrhea. You do not want to get dehydrated.

Diarrhea can be caused by many things and comes with a range of symptoms including loose stool, gas, bloating and cramps. It's important to understand that diarrhea is the bodies way of ridding itself of toxins, so forcing your body to stop may do more harm than good. The next important thing is to understand is why you have diarrhea. Have you been eating a lot of refined sugar, dairy and caffeine? All can cause diarrhea. Have you been eating a lot of fatty foods or synthetic foods (think snack cakes, boxed meals, microwave meals)? If so that can cause diarrhea. Another cause is a lack of fiber. Your body needs plenty of plant fiber to make firm bowel movements.
Here's what I recommend doing:
Drink plenty of fluids, especially Gatorade or pedialyte. Water, juice, soda etc will not help you as they are contain to much sugar or contain no salt. You need to replenish water, vitamins and salt to keep from becoming dehydrated.
Until the diarrhea stops stay on the BRAT diet. BRAT stands for Bananas, rice, apples and toast. These foods are both high in fiber and gentle on your stomach. If your stomach is irritated or queasy that may be the cause of your diarrhea. Avoid chemicals, refined sugars, caffeine, dairy and overly ripe fruit.
Try to relax and get some rest. Not only are you weak from dehydration but stress can actually make your diarrhea worse. Try drinking mint or chamomile tea to reduce stress and settle a queasy stomach. Also make sure to take Folic acid and potassium to replenish lost vitamins.
Your symptoms should subside within a few days. If they don't or if they include a fever, vomiting or blood in your stool you should see a physician immediately. Good luck and blessings, Prana

Liquids: Force yourself to drink fluids (drink even when you don't feel thirsty) to replace body water lost by diarrhea. Drink at least 8 to 10 large glasses of liquids a day. If you cannot keep fluids down because of vomiting, you should contact the doctor or nurse. If you can keep fluids down, drink a variety of clear liquids, not just water.
Water should be only part of the 8 to 10 glasses of fluids you drink a day; it does not replace lost minerals.
Gatorade®* is a good source of fluids and it helps to replace lost salt and potassium.
Clear soup or broth can help to replace lost salt.
Sodas are also good for replacing salt, but let them stand until fizz has decreased to help prevent more gas or bloating.
AVOID milk and dairy products, they can make diarrhea worse and should not be eaten for at least a week after the diarrhea has resolved. Temporary lactose intolerance can develop with diarrhea.
AVOID alcohol and coffee - even decaffeinated coffee can cause problems.
Foods: Eat frequent small meals. A good choice of foods for diarrhea follows:
B-bananas—to help replace lost nutrients
R-rice—easy to digest and is a binding starch
A-apple sauce—to provide sugars for energy and soluble (water-holding) fiber
T-toast—easy to tolerate and is a binding starc.
When these foods are being well tolerated, then you can start adding other foods. Choose bland low-fiber foods, such as
White-chicken meat without the skin
Scrambled eggs
Crackers, white bread, and pasta noodles without sauce
Canned or cooked fruits without skins
Some foods can make diarrhea and cramping worse and should be avoided. These include
Fatty, fried, greasy, or spicy foods that can cause more problems and discomfort
High-fiber foods that can be troublesome; bran and some cereals, raw fruits and vegetables
Dried fruits, beans, popcorn, and nuts
Chocolate
Cigarette smoking should also be avoided.

for fast relief, take lomotil first, followed by charcoal about an hour later to absorb the toxins which u may have ingested. And do make sure u drink plenty of water or juices...otherwise u will dehydrate and feel very tired. If diarrhoe persist for more than 2 days, do consult a dr.

see a doctor if the diarrhoea lasts more than three days or if there's blood.
Eating apples will help. Make sure you drink plenty of water to keep hydrated and also beef broth will help. it has salts to help with hydration.
A pharmacist should be able to help you with an over-the-counter medication.

Lomotil works great
Peptobismo also pretty good
Natural stuff: ABCs
Apples
Bananas
Carrots
(all high in fibre)
In extreme cases, opiates like hydrocodone, vicodin.
In all cases, get plenty of rest and fluids. It can actually kill you. Call a doctor if you cannot get it under control in a day.

My husband uses Immodium to firm up his bowels. If the condition persists, it might be a bug and you might wish to consult a physician - especially if you are experiencing constipation then diarrhea.
