no, they are electrical equivalents, connecting to the battery terminal would be muchmuchmuchmuch easier and less likely to cause problems due to heating or bad crimps.

ABSOLUTELY NO DIFFERENCE.

anyone that tells you otherwise is dumb, ignorant, stupid, and retarded, and if you send them to me I will punch them in the head to prove it.

Direct connection to the battery with a in line fuse or circuit breaker no more than 18 inches from the connection is the proper installation if you were going to enter it in any stereo competitions. Also your ground wire should be no more than three feet long and grounded to bare metal through a wire of the same gage as your power wire. Also where the power wire goes through the firewall there should be a grommet to prevent shorting out. Hope I have been helpful.

DONT DO IT TO ALTERNATOR, GOOD RESULTS ARE NOT TO FOLLOW. A DIRECT CONNECTION TO THE BATTERY WOULD BE THE BEST. DEPENDING ON THE SIZE OF YOUR AMP WILL DETERMINE WHAT SIZE OF FUSE YOU NEED, FOR EXAMPLE IF YOUR AMP HAS A 80 FUSE, USE AN 80 FUSE NEAR THE BATTERY, IF YOUR AMP HAS 2 40 FUSES USE AN 80. WHAT EVER SIZE THE FUSE ON THE AMP IF ITS 2 ADD THEM UP. THAT IS HOW YOU KNOW WHAT SIZE FUSE TO USE.

I have always heard (and used) a direct connection to the battery, or to the hot main terminal on the fuse block.
