Golden retreivers are considered an excellent family dog. But they need room to run so perhaps not a good choice for an apartment.

By far the best family pet. Not only are they awesome with kids, they have a wonderful temperment and are easy to train. An A+ all around. I had two growing up as well as labs. Both are good, but I am definitely getting a golden when I have kids.

They are excellent pets. They are very hyper tho and the first 2 years can be a little trying, labs like to chew on stuff. But they are some of the most loyal and loving dogs there is. Also one of the smartest

They are a big dog and need room to run. The shed a little at times. They are one of the most intelligent dogs I've ever seen. They are timid at very young ages and you need to be careful no protect their sensitivity. They're excellent hunting dogs, especially for retrieving in water. They're goose down type hair dries very rapidly and they love the water. Very affectionate family dog and in protective mode can be very vicious.

All dogs are good pets, but it depends on what kind you want.
Golden Retrievers, are very friendly, energetic and loveable dogs! They require lots of attention, grooming & love! They are great with kids and are a great family dog!
So yes, they are good pets! =D

Little unknown fact...Some Golden Retrievers in the upper East areas have been so inbred that they are becoming very aggressive. So please check your breeder VERY carefully. Other than that they are known to be great pets...just as any dog would be. With good breeding and good owners...

Great dogs. Needs love, walks, and some brushing. They will warn you when someone is coming, but not a good guard dog, unless the person is afraid of being licked to death.
I highly recommend one!

yes, i love mine....! they do shed a lot, but i keep mine's hair cut in the summertime, and I dont let it grow out too much in the winter, and that helps. they also are prone to ear infections, so a little extra cleaning is required. Mine also flings slobber everywhere when he shakes his head, but those things pale in comparison to how sweet he is! hes a great antidote to my jack russell!

Lovely dogs but need a lot of space. It would be cruel to keep one in a small house or flat.
